CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FRIDAY: Our European football tipster The Ultra previews the Champions League action on Friday between JUVENTUS v LYON and MANCHESTER CITY v REAL MADRID both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

JUVENTUS V LYON
8pm The Champions League is finally back and what a brilliant first night! We have two amazing fixtures to enjoy, it’s just a shame that they both kick off at the same time. We start with Juventus hosting Lyon attempting to come from a one behind after the first leg. Many football fans might look at this fixture and think it will be a routine win for the Serie A Champions – I don’t think so. The French League isn’t the highest in quality, but Lyon were able to stop Juve in the first leg and held PSG to a goalless in the Coupe de la Ligue.
I think this fixture is fascinating. Juve have to score, obviously. But Lyon seem reasonably solid at the back and I expect a difficult even for the Italian side. xG really points out how lucky they have been to lift the Serie A title this season, and they have finished the season very poorly too. I won’t read too much into that however, as they had the league won and eased off. Lyon will come here to defend, and Juve haven’t been creating too many chances lately. I’m going to have a small bet on the Juve lay at 1.48 as I think that price is just too short looking at how they have been performing this season.

MANCHESTER CITY V REAL MADRID
8pm It’s night like this that make us love the Champions League. Two giants clash on Friday night and it is City who take the advantage into this tie after the first leg. They actually bossed the first leg and 2-1 wasn’t a fair reflection of the game. They recorded an xG of 3.14 and were unlucky not to put the tie to bed. Real Madrid have been excellent since coming back from lockdown though, but they need to attack here and that will surely suit City.
Real’s success has come from an improvement at the back, and as I said, they have been excellent since returning from lockdown. Some of their results look like they have grinded out wins, but they have consistently created a host of chances. They were winning games 1-0 and creating an xG of 3+ for example. For course, with Real needing to attack this can only help City play excellent counter attacking football. I expect an excellent game here and a lot of goals. Over 2.5 goals is worth backing at 1.55 – we could see a crazy scoreline here!
