WORLD CUP QUALIFIER: Our football tipster The Ultra previews Friday’s World Cup Qualifier between CZECH REPUBLIC V WALES with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
CZECH REPUBLIC V WALES
7.45pm While all eyes might have been on the Nations League Semi-Finals this week, we start the World Cup Qualifiers again on Friday night! We start with a bang on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as we have a huge game in Group E as Czech Republic host Wales. With Belgium busy in the Nations League and certain of topping this Group anyway, this game will likely go a long way to deciding who finishes second. At the moment both sides are locked together on seven points, however Wales have a game in hand which could prove massive.
Any result here would be massive for Wales. They would shake hands on a draw without playing no doubt. Czech Republic are odds on favourites as they currently trade 1.78 at the time of writing. Although Wales are level on points with the Czech Republic and have a game in hand, it’s worth noting that Czech Republic have already had to play Belgium twice in this Group and they did manage a 1-1 draw when they had home advantage. Possibly the biggest result in the Group thus far however was a 1-0 win for Wales over Czech Republic when they had home advantage.
Wales will have to play Belgium on the final matchday; however those two games come within three days of each other, so Wales will be hoping Belgium opt to rest some players for that game and give a chance to their younger players – they should be certain of first by then. Czech Republic started off Euro 2020 a little slowly – they beat Scotland 2-0 but didn’t deserved to do so after they conceded an xG of 2.29, then drew with Croatia and lost to England. They did very well afterwards though, benefitting from red card to beat Netherlands and playing very well but losing against Denmark. They had a better tournament than Wales who managed to finish second in their Group but got hammered 4-0 by Denmark in the knockouts.
Wales have largely focused on being solid at the back recently and this has come at a cost of creating chances. A lot of their recent games have been low scoring affairs, and given how much they would like a draw here I can’t see this game being too open. Czech Republic look like the better side and are rightly favourites with home advantage, but the 1.78 looks too short to me. I expect a closer game than those odds reflect. It’s a tempting lay, but under 2.5 goals looks the best bet here at 1.62. I can see this being a very cagey affair given the situation in the Group, and Wales will want to keep the game as quiet as possible.
The Ultra Says:
Three points win Under 2.5 goals at 1.62 with BETDAQ Exchange.
