Bayern Munich are away and gone in the title race in Germany this season, but Dortmund are sitting in second place at the moment. They might be nine points behind but a second place finish would be a big step forward for them from recent seasons; they barely got into the Champions League last season – getting fourth on the final day.
Eintracht Frankfurt actually finished ahead of Dortmund last season, but they’ve been struggling this season as they sit in seventh. That being said, they are only four points off the top four so there’s plenty to play for. Both sides have actually got very similar profiles on performance levels – there’s only 0.01 between them on attacking xG figures. The reason why Dortmund are second and Frankfurt are seventh is Frankfurt have been very sloppy at the back. Their average xG conceded isn’t too bad at 1.32 but they are conceding two goals per game on average at the moment. As the saying goes, you don’t win many games conceding two goals!
Dortmund come into the game as the favourites at 2.16 with Eintracht Frankfurt 3.55 and the draw is 3.8 at the time of writing. I know Frankfurt have been conceding a lot of goals this season, but I thought the market would be a little bit more open. As I said above, there’s not a huge amount between the sides on under-lining numbers. I do feel we’ll have a very entertaining game here though, so I’m happy to stay out of the match odds market here because this game screams goals in my opinion.
Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.71 and Both Teams To Score is a few ticks lower at 1.63. I couldn’t put anyone off either bet here – both sides like to attack and they create a decent volume of chances. Frankfurt have been leaking goals for fun this season too, and since 2-23 we’ve had score lines like 4-0, 3-3 and 3-1 when the sides have met. Dortmund are also conceding more chances away from home this season. Put everything together and I feel Over 2.5 goals offers cracking value here at 1.71 and I’m happy to start the weekend with a Five Star NAP!
