SERIE A: The Ultra previews Friday Night Football from Serie A as Lecce host AC Milan with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
LECCE V AC MILAN
7.45pm Friday night football comes from Serie A this week on Betdaq Betting Exchange! AC Milan are back in action as they travel to take on Lecce – they come into this game under early pressure after losing their opening game last weekend against Cremonese. That was a terrible start to the season; they had home advantage and Cremonese only came up from the Serie B playoffs. We have spoken time and time again about the massive gulf in class that has developed between the top tier and the second tier in most European leagues in recent years. In terms of starts to the season, it couldn’t have got much worse for AC Milan result wise.
Performance wise, AC Milan played very well and deserved to win the game. They finished with an xG of very close to 2.5 and conceded two goals from an xG of just 0.68. It was just one of those games – they came into this season as joint third favourites for the title with Juventus. Obviously losing against a newly promoted side is a massive blow in that sense – even on Matchday One which is incredible to be talking about but you cannot afford a slow start these days. To be honest, it would be a surprise if we didn’t see Inter Milan and Napoli battle it out for the title again this season. AC Milan are a good bet for the top four in my opinion; most likely that third spot but I don’t see them challenging for the title.
Lecce was heavily involved in the relegation battle last season – they finished just outside the bottom three with two wins from their final two games saving them. On paper, this is another fixture that AC Milan should be winning. You could have said they had one of the easiest starts to the Serie A season on paper! It’s no surprise to see AC Milan trading odds on here – the away win is 1.78 with Lecce 5.4 and the draw is 3.8 at the time of writing.
Lecce really struggled in front of goal last season. Their average xG created is low mid-table level, but they couldn’t convert those chances and that was why they were in a relegation battle. They scored the fewest amount of goals in Serie A last season, and surely their goal will be to improve on that this season. They leaked a tonne of chances at the back as well though, and you’d have to say that they face another battle to stay up this season.
I know AC Milan got off to a bad start results wise, but the under-lining numbers say they played very well – another day they could have easily won that game 3-0 or 4-0 and we’re having a different narrative here. Lecce are there for the taking, and a similar performance from AC Milan will get the job done here. The 1.78 looks cracking value on the away win to get the weekend started; it’s a confident four point bet.
The Ultra Says:
Four points win AC Milan to beat Lecce at 1.78 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
