NATIONS LEAGUE: The Ultra previews Friday’s matches between AUSTRIA v FRANCE and DENMARK v CROATIA both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

AUSTRIA V FRANCE

7.45pm The International action doesn’t stop, and we have more Nations League action to enjoy on BETDAQ Betting Exchange on Friday night. We have plenty of action tonight, but I’m happy to focus on the two games from Group A1 where we have a fascinating situation. Denmark top the Group with two wins from their opening two games, and France have only managed a point from their two games – the so called “best team in the world” are under pressure now, and this is a must win game for them when you look at the table. I know the Nations League isn’t the be all and end all for these sides, but if you’re in an A Group it’s a good chance to win a trophy. Denmark have two home games left in this round of International matches, so it’s hard to see France catching them, plus given the fact France have to play Denmark away from home in September means the French have a lot of work to do. All they can do is win these two games they have left and see where they stand – and that starts with a must win game against Austria here. It’s been a good start for Ralf Rangnick since he left Manchester United, but his Austrian side slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Denmark on Monday after recording an impressive 3-0 win away to Croatia. It was a very close game in Vienna, and Denmark scored the winner with five minute or so to go. It will be interesting to see how Rangnick sets up Austria and whether they can stop this French side.

France have put in two lacklustre performances so far. Perhaps it has been a tough and long year for their squad – they are mostly elite players who have had a long run in the Champions League etc. That’s a very easy excuse though, and the reality is that they just haven’t performed well enough. It was disappointing to see them only draw with Croatia because Croatia have been a pretty average side for a while. The Croatia camp even said they could have won the game, such was the performance from France. There’s no doubt that France are a better side on paper compared to Austria, but you do feel that Rangnick will have Austria very well set up here. He spoke very well at Manchester United, he just didn’t have the players deliver. Given the way France have been conceding chances, the 1.85 does feel too short on them. I couldn’t put anyone off the lay on France, however I feel the value is in the goals market here. Over 2.5 goals is trading 2.06 and that looks the stand out bet here – I would have it odds on. France have been conceding a lot of chances, and Austria have been in goals too over the last week. I can see a pretty open game here, and we could see a very end-to-end game. Neither side suggest this will be a cagey match, and overs makes a lot of appeal.

The Ultra Says:
Three points win Over 2.5 goals at 2.06 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

DENMARK V CROATIA

7.45pm Next we stay in Group A1 to finish the evening as Denmark host Croatia. While the Austria v France game is a big game in this Group to see if France can catch up, this is a massive game for Denmark as they sit top of the table after two wins from two games. They will view this fixture as a very “winnable” game and a chance to go further clear at the top of the table. You have to say that this is an excellent chance on paper – as I said above this Croatia side has looked pretty limited over the last while. I know they have one of the best midfielders in the world in Modric, but they just haven’t been as consistent as when they reached the World Cup Final back in 2018. They didn’t get relegated from the last Nations League, but they came exceptionally close to doing so. They only managed three points from their six games, and only stayed in an A Group because of goal difference against Sweden. They topped their World Cup qualifying Group, but that was a very weak Group. Russia got within one point of them, and although we won’t be seeing Russia for a while in International tournaments, they were very limited from what we saw over the last few years. I feel this is a fantastic chance for Denmark to make it three wins from their opening three games, and I was expecting to see them trading shorter than 1.92 when I clicked into the market.

This will be Denmark’s first home game of this Nations League after beating France and Austria 2-1 away from home. They have been creating some nice chances – the France win was probably a shock to most people but you have to give credit to this side. They did incredibly well at Euro 2020 after what happened to them in the Group stage with Christian Eriksen and isn’t great to see him back on the football pitch? He was superb for Brentford towards the end of the Premier League season! I feel with home advantage here, the 1.92 is simply too big to ignore. This Croatia side seem there for the taking for me – I know they battled well against France, but they do give up plenty of chances and Denmark should be able to take full advantage. The 1.92 is worth a reasonably confident bet to finish the evening! They had to dig deep to beat Austria but they still managed to pull it out of the bag – I wouldn’t be surprised to see the winning goal come in the final 15 minutes again here, but I believe it will come.

The Ultra Says:
Three points win Denmark to beat Croatia at 1.92 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
