LA LIGA PREVIEW: The Ultra previews OVIEDO v MALLORCA with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

8pm It’s been a hectic week around Europe, and we kick off another weekend on Betdaq Betting Exchange with Friday night football from La Liga! Oviedo host Mallorca, and while it might not be the most glamorous fixture this week compared to the huge games we had midweek – Barcelona v Atletico Madrid the highlight of course – we do have a very interesting open market. This is a massive game for both sides in the relegation battle!
Oviedo were always expected to be under pressure this season coming up from the Segunda, and they come into this game sitting bottom of the table. They are still in the mix though because they are within four points of Mallorca sitting in 16th place. This is a proper relegation six pointer; a win is a direct blow to the competition. Oviedo come into the game as the favourites at 2.8 with Mallorca 2.96 and the draw is 3.15 at the time of writing.
Obviously with both sides in the relegation battle at the moment, you know that their performance levels haven’t been that good. Oviedo have the worst attacking figure in La Liga this season – the only side with an average xG created under 1.0 this season. Obviously that’s a massive issue, and to be honest it’s hard to see them getting out of the relegation zone. To have any chance of staying up, they need to be winning games like this with home advantage. Not only have Oviedo been poor in attack, they have also been very poor at the back – their average xG conceded is 1.95 which is the worst defensive figure in La Liga this season.
There really aren’t many positives with Oviedo this season then; it was always going to be a struggle in fairness. Mallorca have been playing poorly this season too, but obviously not as bad as Oviedo but they are still in the bottom six on attacking figures and the bottom four on defensive figures. It’s hard to have any confidence in either side here to be honest; you wouldn’t want to be backing Oviedo as the favourites but then Mallorca have lost six of their seven away games in La Liga this season. Both sides are limited in attack, and conceding plenty of chances so it’s hard to have a strong opinion on goals too. I feel they’ll cancel each other out; Mallorca are marginally better but given Oviedo have home advantage that should even things out – I’m happy with a small bet on the draw at 3.15.
