SERIE A FRIDAY: The Ultra previews PISA v ATALANTA with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
PISA V ATALANTA
7.45pm Friday Night Football on Betdaq Betting Exchange this week comes from Serie A! Pisa host Atalanta in a must win game for the visitors as they aim to close the gap on the European spots. Every game is also a must win game for Pisa at the moment too because they currently sit in the relegation zone. Things are getting a little bleak for Pisa too as they drift away – the gap is getting a little too big for comfort and their under-lining numbers paint a grim story too.
It’s no surprise then that Atalanta come into the game as the odds on favourites. Atalanta are trading 1.67 with Pisa 6.2 and the draw is 4.0 at the time of writing. Atalanta had a rough start to the season results wise, and they sat in mid-table for ages with some decent performance levels. They simply weren’t taking their chances, and only managed two wins in their first twelve Serie A games of the season. They went unbeaten for the first nine but that had seven draws – one of which included a 1-1 draw with Pisa on the opening day of the season. You could easily call them unlucky in that end – conceded an own goal, finished the game with an xG of 2.26 and 66% possession. It almost set the tone for not taking their chances this season.
The recent signs have been more promising though. They’ve won their last three Serie A games, including difficult fixtures against Roma and away to Bologna. They’ve actually won five of their last six, with the loss coming against Inter Milan – no shame in that. Atalanta have created a decent level of chances this season, and perhaps they are finally starting to take them – they have the joint-fourth best attacking figure coming into this weekend so they should be higher in the table. They’ve also been quite solid at the back; they really just struggled to get over the line in games early in the season.
With the recent wins and finally converting more chances, the 1.67 looks cracking value in my opinion. Pisa have clearly struggled this season – they have the second worst attacking figure in Serie A with an average xG created of only 1.09, and they have the second worst defensive figure too. It’s no surprise to see them sitting in the relegation zone, and it would be a surprise if they got out of it to be honest. Obviously home advantage here is a bonus, but with Atalanta hitting form I feel they are worth a Five Star NAP at the odds here. Pisa and there for the taking.
