7.30pm Union Berlin host Mainz for Friday Night Football in the Bundesliga this week with both teams searching for their first win. Union Berlin managed a draw with Gladbach at the weekend but lost their opening fixture, while Mainz have lost their opening two games while conceding seven goals in the process.
There wasn’t much between these two in the table last season, with only four points between them. The reality is both should finish in the mid-to-low area of the table and we should have a pretty close game here. It might be low quality looking at their opening games, with plenty of mistakes at the back.
It’s always tricky to fully commit to goals in these games because both sides might cancel each other out – but I like over 2.5 goals at 1.89. While they haven’t managed a win between them yet, they have both scored in their two games and also conceded plenty of chances. If they keep conceding the same amount of chances, then surely we will see goals. I feel over 2.5 goals is a little over priced at the odds, but it’s not a bet to go mad about in a low quality game.
