THE ULTRA MONDAY: The Ultra previews Monday Night Football from La Liga clash as Espanyol host Mallorca with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
ESPANYOL V MALLORCA
8pm Monday night football comes from La Liga on Betdaq Betting Exchange this week! We might not have the most glamorous fixture compared to what we enjoyed at the weekend, but we do have an interesting market as Espanyol host Mallorca. Espanyol would have come into this season under immense pressure; promoted from the Segunda playoffs after the 2023/24 season, they were heavily involved in the La Liga relegation battle last season. They survived, but they finished the season with the joint-worst attacking figure and the second worst defensive figure.
If you were picking a side in massive danger of relegation that didn’t get promoted this season, it would have been Espanyol. They have managed to start this season so positively however; they are unbeaten in their opening three games including two wins! Notably, one of those wins came here against Atletico Madrid – quite the start to the season! It’s fair to say that they have been lucky to be unbeaten; they have conceded more chances than they have created on xG. However, they will take all the luck that they can get in their bid to stay up again.
Espanyol come into the game as the favourites at 2.26 with Mallorca 3.7 and the draw is 3.35 at the time of writing. Mallorca have had a very slow start to the season, and they come into this game sitting in the relegation zone. While they finished in mid-table last season, their under-lining numbers were very poor and there were a lot of red flags. They had the fourth worst attacking figure, and the joint-fourth worst defensive figure. You could easily see them in the relegation battle this season.
While Mallorca have only one point from their opening three games, let’s not be too harsh on them – they have had to play Barcelona and Real Madrid after all! It’s hard to judge their performance levels this season given the quality that they have faced. I do feel that this is a game for small stakes; and I also feel that the 2.26 on Espanyol is too short. I know they have had a nice start to the season result wise, but their under-lining numbers aren’t great. I know Mallorca haven’t got much going for them either, but I do feel this one will be closer than the odds suggest. From a value point of view, I’m happy with the Espanyol lay in what should be a close game.
The Ultra Says:
One point lay (liability) Espanyol to beat Mallorca at 2.26 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
