THE ULTRA MONDAY: The Ultra previews GENOA V LAZIO with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
GENOA V LAZIO
7.45pm It’s the start of another massive week from Europe on Betdaq Betting Exchange! We kick it off with Monday night football from Serie A as Genoa host Lazio. This might not be the most glamorous fixture from Europe this week given the Champions League is back in full swing now, but we do have an interesting market. We have an open betting heat – Lazio come into the game as the favourites at 2.68 with Genoa 3.2 and the draw is 3.1 at the time of writing.
Both these sides have had tough starts to the season, and it’s fair to say that they both need something good to happen. Genoa have two points from their four games, while Lazio have only managed three. While Genoa are under a little pressure given the poor start; they will only be expected to finish mid-table at best. For Lazio though, they will be aiming for European spots and one win from four games just doesn’t cut it. Obviously Lazio had the Derby last weekend against Roma – but their two away losses against Sassoulo and Como were disappointing.
It’s easy to pick holes in both sides here. Lazio have an average xG conceded of 1.51 so far this season which is far too high for a side aiming for those European spots. They came very close last season, and if you were asked now you’d say they would miss out on Europe. Genoa have some big red-flags in their performance levels too. They have an average xG created of just 0.99 which is the second worst attacking figure in Serie A this season. Only Cremonese have created less. The positive for Genoa is they have been more solid at the back than Lazio.
Obviously home advantage will help Genoa here too, I have to say I wouldn’t be rushing to take the 2.68 on Lazio here. If anything I would have the market even more open in what should be a very close game. It’s hard to have a lot of confidence in either side here, and while I accept Genoa are clearly struggling to create chances, Lazio are conceding them so that puts me off a position in the goals market. I feel both sides can cancel each other out here, and the draw is worth a small bet at 3.1.
