MONDAY LA LIGA: Our football tipster The Ultra previews Monday’s game between games between GETAFE v ATHLETIC BILBAO with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

8pm This might not be the most glamourous of Monday night’s in La Liga, but we have an intriguing clash as Getafe host Athletic Bilbao. We have a very open market on BETDAQ Betting Exchange, and I’m sure there will be some big opinions on the prices here with Getafe in the bottom three and Athletic Bilbao sitting in mid-table. I must say I was very surprised to see Athletic Bilbao trading as big as 2.44 when I clicked into the market.

Bilbao come into this fixture off the back of a six game run in La Liga without a win. They have had to play Real Madrid and Real Sociedad in that run, but they have had some very disappointing results. They lost to Cadiz and drew 0-0 with Levante for example – two sides slap bang in the relegation fight. They were unlucky to draw with Espanyol though, having to settle for a 1-1 draw while creating an xG of 3.77 and they actually created a bigger xG then Real Madrid when they lost midweek. I watched that game live and was very impressed with their performance.

If Getafe were playing good football but in the relegation fight, then I could understand the prices here but they aren’t. The xG table has them in the bottom three and things could be worse bar a 4-0 win over Cadiz recently who are also in the relegation fight. Getafe generally try to keep games very tight, so there are reasons to not be too confident on Bilbao here. Getafe don’t usually concede a very high xG, but they don’t create much either. They try to make every game a grind, and see can they pick up points that way.

I can understand their tactics, and I can also understand why punters would want to lay Bilbao too given Getafe will very likely set out for a draw here. However, it all comes down to the odds and I just can’t have the odds here. Bilbao look massive to me at 2.44 – I expected to see them trading at around 2.2 if not shorter to beat a very average side in Getafe. Bilbao have shown this season that can they create a lot of chances away from home and while Getafe have picked up results at home – none of their xG figures are that impressive. The stats only point to one winner here and I’m happy to have a Max Bet on Bilbao at the odds. We’ve landed two Max Bet’s in the last few days, hopefully we can make it three!
