LA LIGA MONDAY: The Ultra previews GIRONA v GETAFE with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

8pm It’s the start of a massive week from Europe on Betdaq Betting Exchange, and we kick it off with Monday Night Football from La Liga. Girona host Getafe, and while this is less glamorous than the upcoming fixtures this week as we finished the Champions League and Europa League Group stage, we do have an interesting market to go through. Girona come into the game as the favourites at 2.18 with Getafe 4.4 and the draw is 3.15 at the time of writing.
While Girona are sitting in mid-table, can we include them in the relegation discussion given they only have a five point cushion coming into this matchday? Obviously we do get a lot of sides involved in the La Liga relegation battle! There’s no doubt that Getafe are under more pressure though – they are sitting in 17th place with just two points to spare over the bottom three. This is a massive game for both sides really given a win is a direct blow to the competition – both of them have been playing some very poor football too.
Girona have an average xG created of just 0.15 and Getafe are just below them on 1.12 – both of those figures are in the bottom three attacking figures. It is somewhat ironic that Girona are in mid-table and Getafe are one spot outside the relegation zone because there’s a massive difference between them at the back. Getafe have a very respectable average xG conceded at 1.29 while Girona have been very poor with an average xG conceded of 1.76! That’s in the bottom three defensive figures, and while they have a five point cushion on the bottom three as I said, they should definitely be looking over their shoulder with those performance levels.
Getafe have obviously really struggled to create chances and score goals – they are scoring less than a goal a game on average so they aren’t even converting their limited chances. That’s been their major issue because their defensive figure is in the top five in La Liga! Obviously we have two struggling sides here, but I do feel the 2.18 on a Girona win is very short. Getafe have been playing the better football, and they have been levels above Girona at the back too. I feel this one will be closer than the odds suggest, and from a value point of view I’m happy with a Girona lay.
