LA LIGA PREVIEW: The Ultra previews Monday’s games between CADIZ v ALAVES and ATLETICO MADRID v GRANADA both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
CADIZ V ALAVES
6.30pm We finish the opening weekend of the La Liga season with two Monday night fixtures on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE! All eyes will be on the Atletico Madrid fixture later, but we kick off the evening with Cadiz v Alaves. Is it too early to call this a relegation battle? It definitely is, but these are two sides that you have to feel will be in the mix to go down this season. Alaves are back in La Liga after finished fourth in the Segunda and coming from the playoffs. They were only in the Segunda for one season, but they did finish rock bottom of La Liga in the 2021/22 season – Cadiz finished eight points ahead of them, just outside the relegation zone. After a brilliant first season in La Liga Cadiz have been in the relegation mix for the last two season; even going right until the death last season too. They’ll will likely come under pressure again this season, but I suppose they have the experience of getting the job done now! Alaves will definitely be under pressure with their budget, and you’d imagine their home form is going to be key to them staying up.
When Alaves were last in La Liga, it was their away form that put them down. They only managed six points away from home for the whole 2021/22 season, and that’s surely an area they have to target on improving this season. If not, we should have some excellent value bets taking them on away from home! It will be interesting to see their performance level here. Cadiz have had issues at home for two seasons now – they finished bottom of the home form table in 2021/22 and then 17th last season. I’m not surprised to see them as favourites, but the 2.22 feels a little short to back – you wouldn’t be rushing to take those odds. I would expect a reasonably low quality affair here, quite a cagey game with both sides wanting a solid start to the season. The draw is a nice option at 3.05 with Under 2.5 goals as short as 1.5.
The Ultra Says:
One point win Draw at 3.05 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

ATLETICO MADRID V GRANADA
8.30pm We finish the evening in La Liga with Atletico Madrid hosting Granada. After dropping off the pace of Real Madrid and Barcelona over the last two seasons, Atletico will be aiming for a fast start this season. When Atletico won the title in the 2020/21 season, it looked like they could battle for the title for the next few years, but that hasn’t happened. Real Madrid and Barcelona have improved, and Atletico haven’t gone forward. Surely they have the hunger back in their belly after the last two years, and their European campaign last season was embarrassing too finishing last in their Champions League Group. They face a Granada side here who have bounced back up to La Liga after topping the Segunda last season – just like Alaves, they only spent one season in the Segunda. Their sole aim this season now had to be staying in La Liga. You’d say that fixtures away to the likes of Atletico Madrid won’t have a major impact on that, but anything here would be a huge bonus and also a massive confidence boost.
I don’t see any shocks here. Atletico were excellent at home last season, in fairness they were good away from home too and actually finished with a point more than Real Madrid away from home. The market is expecting a smooth home win as well with Atletico trading as short as 1.32 at the time of writing. It’s hard to argue with those odds, and to be honest I can’t see past an Atletico win here so we’ll have to look around the side markets for some value. There’s a big gulf in class between the sides here, but Granada were pretty solid away from home when they were in La Liga. It was mainly their home form that caused them problems. They’re going to employ very cagey tactics here, and try make the game as boring as possible. I can see Atletico having to grind out a win and it might not be a pretty game to watch. Under 2.5 goals looks nice value at 2.14, and it’s worth backing at those odds.
The Ultra Says:
One point win Under 2.5 goals at 2.14 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
