Northern Ireland won 3-1 when they were away from home earlier in the Group.
Now with home advantage, it’s no surprise to see Northern Ireland come into the game as the odds on favourites. The home win is trading 1.42 with Luxembourg 9.0 and the draw is 5.2 at the time of writing. Obviously Northern Ireland were always up against things in qualifying; they have tried to keep games as tight as possible and that’s reflected in their under-lining numbers. They have an average xG created of 1.09 and an average conceded of just 1.16. They will obviously have to make all the running here – Luxembourg are there for the taking though.
While Northern Ireland haven’t created much in this Group, Luxembourg have created less – their average xG created is only 0.78 which is a very low figure. They’ve only managed to actually score once in five games – that was at home to Northern Ireland. They’ve also leaked chances at the back with an average xG conceded of 1.74. It’s very hard to see past a comfortable win for Northern Ireland here – they have the chance to have a nice confidence boosting win heading into the Playoffs too. I’m happy with a confident bet at 1.42.
