WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS: Our football tipster The Ultra previews Monday’s matches between NORTHERN IRELAND v ITALY, SCOTLAND v DENMARK, and SAN MARINO v ENGLAND all with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

NORTHERN IRELAND V ITALY

7.45pm We have another final round of games at the World Cup Qualifiers on Monday and we have some crunch games on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. All eyes from the Home Nations will be on the Scotland game, however we start with Northern Ireland hosting Italy in Group C in a must win game for Italy. As I said on Sunday, the difference between first and second in the Groups is massive. First goes to the World Cup while second place goes into the second round and that’s just not a place you want to be really – it’s going to be extremely competitive cut-throat football. Italy and Switzerland start this evening with 15 points each as they have both gone through the Group unbeaten. With Switzerland trading 1.12 to beat Bulgaria tonight, the pressure is on Italy to win away from home.

The market believes we’ll see a smooth Italian win here, with the visitors trading 1.28 at the time of writing. Northern Ireland won’t be a pushover at home though as they always perform reasonably well in front of their own fans. You have to acknowledge the huge gulf in class here, and it’s highly likely Italy will win – from a betting point of view it’s just about how many goals they score. In qualification for Euro 2020, Northern Ireland kept Germany to a 2-0 win here, and they managed a 0-0 draw with the Netherlands which was obviously a huge result. I know they have gone downhill since then, performing poorly in the Nations League to get relegated and then this Group – although they were always unlikely to be top two in fairness. I believe they’ll make Italy work very hard to win here, and under 2.5 goals is worth backing at 2.2. Northern Ireland are rock solid at home, but we should see a 1-0 or 2-0 Italian win.

SCOTLAND V DENMARK

7.45pm Next we go to Group F as Scotland host Denmark. Scotland could have been under pressure heading into this game, but they have had a brilliant run of results and Israel and dropped away to essentially mean this is a meaningless game with Denmark certain of first and Scotland certain of second. The big surprise of this Group was how poor Austria were, however we will still see them in second round as they get in through their Nations League performance. That probably just highlights how tough the second round will be for teams, and although it was a massive achievement for Scotland to finish second in the Group, they still have a lot of work to do. It’ll be interesting to see how they get on against this Denmark side, and it will also be interesting to see do Denmark go with their first XI or opt to see some of the younger players in action.

Denmark go into this game with a perfect nine from nine record. They beat Scotland 2-0 with home advantage in September, scoring two goals in the first 15 minutes and then seeing out the game reasonably comfortable. To be fair to Scotland, that was their only loss in the Group and in general they have been fantastic. Hampden Park will be rocking despite this is a meaningless game, and that definitely works in Scotland’s favour here. Denmark look well priced at 2.38 and I won’t be laying them at those odds. This is definitely a game for low stakes given the situation in the Group and what kind of team we might see from Denmark. I feel Scotland can get a result here, and this game might have a low tempo too with neither side needing to win – the draw is worth a small investment at 3.25.

SAN MARINO V ENGLAND

7.45pm We finish the evening with England traveling to take on San Marino. As is always the case with poor San Marino, this is about how many goals can England score rather than will they win. San Marino sit bottom of the Group having conceded 36 goals in their nine games – they did score against Poland though when they had home advantage which in fairness is an achievement for them! They were beaten 7-1, but were probably delighted with just scoring – that’s the gulf in class we are talking about here. I’m a big fan of the Nations League as it has added some much need competitive games instead of boring friendlies, but it will hugely benefit sides like San Marino who will play sides close to their level and gain some much needed confidence and experience. There’s no doubt they will love playing England, and they’ll be wanting to swap shirts at the end, but this will be one way traffic for England.

At the time of writing, England are 1.01 to lay and it’s impossible to see anything other than an England win here. I’m sure Gareth Southgate will opt to see some of the fringe players here as the busy December schedule comes up for all of the Premier League players. That being said, I’m sure Harry Kane will love to add to his goal tally! England warmed up for this with a 5-0 home win over Albania, the same score line they beat San Marino when they enjoyed home advantage in March. San Marino are going to put XI behind the ball here and try to keep the score line as respectable as possible here. I feel they can achieve the same score as in England, and under 5.5 goals looks worth backing for a small bet at 2.3.
