WERDER BREMEN V BAYERN MUNICH
2.30pm We have a cracking day ahead in Europe we the tops sides in action from the Bundesliga and La Liga! We start in the Bundesliga as Bayern Munich travel to take on Werder Bremen. Bayern are still two points still at the top of the Bundesliga, and they put on an excellent display in a 4-2 win over Dortmund last week. Werder Bremen aren’t having a fantastic season, but they do arrive into this fixture with only one loss in six games. They have played Arminia Bielefeld, Koln and Hoffenheim who are all close or below them in the table.
They were actually extremely lucky to beat Arminia Bielefeld midweek as they conceded an xG of 3.11. That’s not a good sign when you have to play Bayern, especially a Bayern side who have been banging in the goals for fun recently. They have scored four or more goals in their last three games since losing 2-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt but that came after a busy week in the UEFA World Club Cup. I think we’ll see a lot of goals from Bayern here and I like Any Other Away Win at 3.3 in the Correct Score market.

REAL MADRID V ELCHE
3.15pm Next we move to La Liga as Real Madrid host Elche. Real have had a disappointing week as they come into this fixture off two draws against Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid. The draw with Sociedad was very disappointing, and the draw with Atletico probably means their title bid is over. It’s certainly reliant on Atletico imploding rather than Real actually winning it. After that draw they have been left eight points behind Atletico, with Barcelona now moving into second, two points ahead of Real. The reality is Real just haven’t been good enough this season, and it will be interesting to see how they finish off the season now – they look like going through in the Champions League so they could focus on that.
This is a massive game for Elche who start the weekend just outside the bottom three. They are hardly expecting a win here, but then again they managed to beat Sevilla last week. That would have been unexpected but it was a massive win given the situation at the bottom of the table. Real should win here, but I wouldn’t pick them as a side to lump on at 1.23 – I would much rather Bayern Munich in the earlier game for example. With Elche in OK form and scoring some goals, I think both teams to score is worth backing at 2.3. Real have conceded plenty of goals this season and Elche can get on the score sheet.

DORTMUND V HERTHA BERLIN
5.30pm We move back to the Bundesliga as Dortmund host Hertha Berlin. This is a big game for Hertha as they started the weekend just above the bottom three and although 16th goes into a relegation Playoff rather than going down, it’s hardly a good game to be in. Hertha have been very poor this season, as their position in the table shows, but they must fancy their chances against a Dortmund side who have been reasonably poor this season. That being said, they massively out-performed their xG figures last season so this is a return to the mean. They did manage to get past Sevilla in the Champions League midweek, but I still have no interest in them at 1.53 this evening.
I wouldn’t be rushing to lay them at 1.53 either given the position of Hertha, but I believe we can see goals here. Both teams to score is worth backing at 1.7 given the amount of goals that Dortmund have conceded this season. We are taking a chance relying on Hertha to score, and stakes should be kept low in this game for that very reason. Hertha’s xG figures aren’t terrible though, and they generally create close to an xG of 1 per game. Dortmund like to play an open game and although it’s low stakes, I still feel the 1.7 is one of the best options in Europe today.

GETAFE V ATLETICO MADRID
8pm We finish the day with Getafe hosting Atletico Madrid after a good week for Atletico. They have a massive week ahead of them too as they have to come from behind against Chelsea to get to the Quarter Finals of the Champions League. After they drew 1-1 with Real Madrid last weekend, they are now in a commanding position at the top of La Liga. If the title wasn’t already in their hands, it is fully in their hands now – they just have to win games like just to finish the job. I was surprise to see them as big as 2.04 when I clicked into the market here. I understand they have a big game against Chelsea midweek, but they can’t afford to ease up in La Liga either.
Getafe are a poor side too, and while they started the weekend five points outside the bottom three, you wouldn’t say that they were out of the mix to go down. They have lost five of their last six games and they have conceded plenty of chances looking at their xG figures too. They have come up well short against the top sides, losing 3-0 to Real Madrid and 3-0 to Sevilla. I can’t have Atletico are odds against here, especially with 0% commission today and they are my best bet of the day. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better bet this weekend!
