VALLADOLID V BARCELONA
6.30pm We have another excellent evening of La Liga action on Saturday and we start with Valladolid hosting Barcelona. Messi and co find themselves under immense pressure behind Real Madrid as the season draws to a close – they just need to keep winning and hope Real Madrid drop points along the way. They grinded out a 1-0 win over Espanyol after battering Villarreal 4-1. It’s fair to say that Barcelona have problems at the back, and you only have to look at their xG numbers to see that. They are giving away too many chances, and although they have out-of-this-world quality up front; that’s not going to get you out of jail every day.
Over 2.5 goals interests me at 1.75 here, however I am keeping my stakes low because Valladolid games don’t have as much action as Barcelona. Valladolid have been involved in a lot of tight matches recently but there are example of them being unlucky. They drew 0-0 here with Levante but created an xG of 1.7, it was also 1-1 against Getafe with an xG of 1.75. Their home performances are ok and they suggest they can get on the scoresheet here. Barcelona give up chances but can score from anywhere themselves and over 2.5 goals is the value here.

ATLETICO MADRID V REAL BETIS
9pm This should be a good game. Real Betis would have been pleased to get back to winning ways last time out against Osasuna after a couple of disappointing efforts. Atletico Madrid were stopped in their tracks by Celta Vigo on Tuesday night and that was a very surprising result. Atletico have been excellent since returning from lockdown and perhaps they were a little unlucky – they won the game 1.12 to 0.31 on xG. Their xG numbers going forward have been very impressive, and they should beat this Betis side.
Betis have given up over 32 goals on xG away from home this season and looking at their recent numbers they seem to give up a host of chances. Given what Atletico are creating going forward, the 1.5 on the home win is too tempting to turn down. Atletico have only conceded an xG of 12 goals in 17 home games this season and xG puts them into second in La Liga. They are in-form and with Betis leaking chances Atletico win this one if it goes to xG. 1.5 is a confident bet.
