We had some blockbuster clashes midweek in the Champions League, and we don’t have any major clashes this weekend before we head into the International Break. It looks like we’re going to have an exciting battle for the title again in Serie A this season, and for the time being AC Milan are keeping up with Napoli and Inter Milan!
AC Milan recorded a massive 1-0 win over Roma last weekend; Roma have had a fantastic start to the season and that was a much needed win after back-to-back draws. One of those draws was at home to Pisa which was a big blow – especially considering AC Milan sat top of the table heading into that game and they were trading 1.31 to win. They now come into this weekend only one point behind Napoli though, which is a good position. Things are quite tight at the top of the table – Inter Milan, AC Milan and Roma are all only one point behind Napoli!
On paper, this is a game that AC Milan will be expected to win. AC Milan come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.66 with Parma 6.4 and the draw is 3.95 at the time of writing. Parma have had a tough start to the season – seven points from their ten games only leaves them one point away from the relegation zone. They were involved in the relegation battle last season, and they should be involved again this season. They have an average xG created of 1.06, which is the third worst attacking figure in Serie A this season.
Parma are also conceding a lot of chances – they have the fourth worst defensive figure. Put those two figures together and it’s not a pretty picture; they are in the bottom three performing sides in Serie A this season. AC Milan have obviously had a very positive start to the season, they haven’t lost since the opening weekend and they were exceptionally unlucky to lose in a game they dominated against Cremonese. The gulf in class between these sides is huge, and Parma are there for the taking in my opinion. We’re getting a lot of value at 1.66, and I feel it’s worth a Five Star NAP!
