5.30pm We have a cracker from the Bundesliga to enjoy on Betdaq Betting Exchange this Saturday. RB Leipzig host Bayern Munich, as the home side try to at least slow down the Bayern march towards the title. Although with an eleven point lead, Bayern have basically already won the title in Germany. It was almost over after two weeks with the start Bayer Leverkusen had with Erik ten Hag! RB Leipzig were once the main challengers to Bayern, but as is always the way in Germany, sides seem to challenge Bayern for a season or two and then sell their best players or the manager leaves.
RB Leipzig had a shock last season to finish down in seventh, missing out on European football, but they have a very positive first half of the season. They come into this weekend sitting in third spot, and although it’s going to be very competitive for those Champions League spots, the signs of Leipzig this season are quite positive. They have an average xG created of 1.77, which is the third best attacking figure in the Bundesliga this season. Obviously Bayern have been on a different planet – they have an attacking figure of 2.33 – but let’s be honest, everyone is playing for second behind Bayern this season.
It’s no surprise that Bayern come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.61 with RB Leipzig 5.4 and the draw is 4.9 at the time of writing. Not only have Bayern been superb in attack, their defensive figure is the joint-best in Europe with an average xG conceded of 0.89. Arsenal have the same figure in the Premier League, which I highlighted in Bayern’s midweek game that Arsenal’s figure is probably a little more impressive given how competitive the Premier League is, but it also highlights just how far ahead of the rest Bayern are in Germany.
Obviously there was a time this fixture was very competitive, but recently we’ve had score lines like 6-0 and 5-1 to Bayern. Those two results did come in the last two games that Bayern have had home advantage though. When Leipzig had home advantage, we saw a 3-3 draw in between those games. We tend to have plenty of goals when the sides meet – Over 2.5 goals has collected in the last seven meetings. It’s collected in ten of the last twelve meetings too. It’s trading 1.36 here so obviously the market is expecting goals to flow! Over 3.5 goals might be a better value bet at 1.83, but on balance it’s hard to get away from Bayern here. They have been levels above everyone else this season and given Leipzig are quite open at the back, Bayern are too big to ignore at 1.61 in what should be an entertaining game.
