VILLARREAL V REAL MADRID

8pm The focus on Saturday from Europe on Betdaq Betting Exchange is on La Liga! We have a cracker as Villarreal host Real Madrid in a massive clash as Real Madrid keep the pressure on Barcelona. Obviously Real Madrid have been through a lot lately with Xabi Alonso leaving – it seems like the players were totally unhappy with his style. We had a lot of rumours about the players not happy with the training and the amount of running Alonso was making them do, and it seems like player power won after the Spanish Super Cup loss against Barcelona in Saudi Arabia.

Ironically, plenty of fans noticed how active Mbappe was on Tuesday night tracking back now Alonso is gone. Most of the fallout afterwards has been around that Real Madrid need a manager, not a coach to tell the players want to do. Obviously we can debate the right and wrongs about that, but these days player power always seems to win regardless of the size of the club. It was a fantastic weekend for Real Madrid last weekend though despite the off field drama – Barcelona lost 2-1 away to Real Sociedad so the gap is down to one point now. We knew there was be drama all the way to the end of the season in the title race, but you have to feel it’s game on now.

This is a very tough fixture for Real Madrid on paper though to keep the momentum going. Barcelona have a very easy (on paper) fixture this weekend too – at home to Oviedo and they are trading 1.13 to win. Real Madrid come into this game as the favourites, but they aren’t trading odds on. Los Blancos are 2.06 with Villarreal 3.55 and the draw is 4.1 at the time of writing. Villarreal lost last weekend, but they have been performing very well this season – they are level on points with Atletico Madrid as they sit in third.

You wouldn’t be surprised to see Villarreal drop points as the season goes on as they have a mid-table attacking figure but they do have a nice cushion so they should be able to hold onto a top four spot. Villarreal have also been massively over-performing at the back – their average xG conceded is 1.48 which is very high, but their actual goals conceded average is only 1.0. When you look at the under-lining numbers, you have to feel Villarreal are there for the taking – especially now with the Real Madrid players buzzing. It felt like they had their spark back midweek given their effort levels, and that will carry now here. I’d have Real odds on here, and I feel we’re getting enough value at 2.06 for a Five Star NAP!
