There’s a lot of action today, but there is two games I like and I’m going to focus on them. We start with Ireland taking on Luxembourg in what is a must win game for Ireland, even so early in qualification. If they are to have any chance of success in this Group, then they need to be winning their games against Luxembourg and Azerbaijan. Ireland finally found the net on Wednesday and then just like buses, they found two goals! Unfortunately for them they conceded three and still lost the game against Serbia. Even though they lost, it was a relatively positive start and they created more than they usually do.
Of course, we have noticed that Ireland are actually better away than at home and the jury will be firmly out for this game. Can they create enough to score – and when they have a lot of the ball can they build up the pressure on Luxembourg? Ireland seem to love playing counter attacking football, but if Luxembourg sit back sometimes Ireland can be a little clueless. Although they scored twice on Wednesday, they didn’t manage to find the net in the six games before that. Ireland look very short for me at around 1.44 – they were shorter than that to beat Finland in the Nations League here and couldn’t get the job done. Luxembourg are a poor side however, and the value call is under 2.5 goals at 1.7 or bigger. It’s easy to see a low scoring and cagey affair here between two very limited sides.

CZECH REPUBLIC V BELGIUM
7.45pm This is the highlight fixture of the night as Czech Republic host Belgium in a massive game in Group E. Both sides started with an expected win on Wednesday night, and if Czech Republic can pick up anything here it would be a massive bonus for them. It’s extremely likely Belgium will win the Group, and then it comes down to Czech Republic and Wales in the race for second. Belgium put Wales to the sword on Wednesday night, and now they face the trickier fixture of Czech Republic away. It’s fair to say that Czech Republic aren’t as good as they once were – many years ago they would have been peoples “dark horses” in major tournaments, ironically Belgium have now taken over that title!
Belgium looked very impressive on Wednesday against Wales, and their XI is a very impressive line-up. It’s likely they will never have a better squad again for years to come, and they really must do something in a major tournament soon. They can’t “just” being impressive in qualification. Czech Republic won their Nations League Group, but it was a very weak Group with Scotland, Israel and Slovakia. Belgium should outclass them tonight and the 1.7 looks a cracking bet to do so. I’d have Belgium a little shorter than 1.6, and the 1.7 looks the best bet of the day, especially with 0% commission on offer.
