VILLARREAL V REAL BETIS

6.30pm The opening weekend European action continues on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE with two games from La Liga on Sunday evening. We have two cracking games to enjoy as the Champions Barcelona return to action, but we kick off the evening with Villarreal hosting Real Betis. These two have been going toe-to-toe for the European spots over the last few years it’s actually a shame to have the fixture on the opening weekend! Villarreal managed to edge out Real Betis for fifth spot last season, but both clubs qualified for the Europa League. You could say that Real Betis would have been disappointed not to break into the top four with Sevilla being so poor, but the reality is they simply weren’t good enough. They definitely didn’t keep the same level as the 2021/22 season. Villarreal had to go through the process of losing Unai Emery, who has really brought success to Aston Villa and even got them a European spot, but they have basically continued in a similar vein of form. They aren’t good enough to crack the top four, but they are going to be right in the mix again for the Europa League spots.

We should have a pretty high quality game here between two very solid sides. Even though Villarreal were very solid at home last season, I was surprised to see them trading odds on at 1.77 when I clicked into the market. I really don’t think there is that much between the sides here. Real Betis were very solid away from home last season too finishing in the top five. I fully accept Betis had a reasonably disappointing season, but I just expect a closer game than the match odds suggest. It should also be a very tight game, so I wouldn’t put anyone off Under 2.5 goals either at 2.16, which I am also surprised to see trading odds against. We saw two Under 2.5 goals results in La Liga last season between the sides – Real Betis picked up a draw here and won their home game. I like both bets, but I feel the Villarreal lay offers marginally more value in what should be a very tight game.

The Ultra Says:
Three points lay (liability) Villarreal to beat Real Betis at 1.77 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

GETAFE V BARCELONA

8.30pm The Spanish Champions are back in action next as Barcelona travel to take on Getafe. It’s going to be another ding-dong battle between Barcelona and Real Madrid for the title this season, and I can’t wait. Barcelona did explore the idea of bringing Messi back to the club during the summer, but realistically they could never afford it with all their money issues off the pitch. Getafe were still involved in the relegation battle at the death last season, and they will be hoping to improve upon that this season. They were poor at home last season and finished in the bottom five on the home form table – that’s definitely an area for them to focus on. Look around all the major leagues in Europe and it’s usually the sides who struggle the most at home that go down. Home form is key in a relegation battle! Barcelona will be fully expected to get their season underway with a win, and they are trading 1.57 at the time of writing which is quite an appealing price in my opinion.

There’s a big gulf in class between the sides here, and Getafe don’t have much going for them. However, they did manage to pick up a 0-0 here last season, and they also “held” Barcelona to only one goal at the Camp Nou for a 1-0 loss. Getafe played very well away from home, but the fixture here between the two Barcelona should have won. They finished with an xG of over double what they conceded. It’s the opening weekend of the season so I’m not going to go crazy with the staking, however Barcelona at 1.57 looks the best bet of the weekend in my opinion. It’s too early for Max Bets, but it’s a very confident four point bet. Barcelona’s away form will be very important for them this season as the Camp Nou undergoes a makeover – they can start on a winning note.

The Ultra Says:
Four points win Barcelona to beat Getafe at 1.57 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
