WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS: The Ultra previews the World Cup Qualifiers on Sunday with the focus on Germany v Northern Ireland in Group A with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
GERMANY V NORTHERN IRELAND
7.45pm The World Cup Qualifiers continue on Sunday on Betdaq Betting Exchange! The focus is on Group A as the only Home Nations in action on Sunday, Northern Ireland travel to take on Germany. On paper, you would have thought that this Group was quite straight-forward but we had a shock result when the Group started on Thursday as Slovakia beat Germany! Despite winning their opening game, it was actually a terrible start for Northern Ireland because you’d have to expect Germany to top this Group – then the battle for second was expected to be between Slovakia and Northern Ireland, with Luxembourg in last place.
With Slovakia taking points of Germany, that basically means Northern Ireland have a tonne of work to do for that second spot, which only gets into the playoff spot too. If Northern Ireland finish outside the top two in Group A, they do have a chance of getting to the playoffs based on their Nations League ranking but they are a long way down the list given they won a C Group. However, you’d have to assume a lot of teams above them will qualify directly too, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens there.
For now, Northern Ireland face the massive task of trying to get a result away to Germany! As you would expect given the gulf in class between the sides, Germany come into the game as the red-hot favourites. Germany are trading as short as 1.15 with Northern Ireland 24.0 and the draw is 10.0 at the time of writing. Obviously the task is huge, but the positives for Northern Ireland are they should have plenty of confidence from topping their Nations League Group and we all know that this German side has been in transition for a while now.
Obviously losing 2-0 to Slovakia on Thursday was a surprise, but Germany will point to the under-lining numbers and say they were very unlucky. They had 70% possession and finished the game with the higher xG figure – however, you have to take your chances to win the game! A draw would be a cracking result for Northern Ireland here, and I’d expect them to approach the game in that fashion. They did concede on Thursday against Luxembourg which isn’t a good sign, but I feel that they can keep the score line respectable here. Northern Ireland are trading 1.79 with a 2.5 goal handicap, and I feel that’s worth a small position in what could be a tighter than expected game.
The Ultra Says:
One point win Northern Ireland +2.5 goals to beat Germany at 1.79 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
