After the opening loss with home advantage against Real Sociedad, this is pretty much a must win game for United.
To tell the truth, they really should be getting the job done here. There is a huge gulf in class between the sides, and the market is fully expecting a smooth United win here with the away win trading as short as 1.23 at the time of writing. Although United started the Group with a loss, it’s pretty much certain they themselves and Real Sociedad will take the top two spots in this Group. Sheriff Tiraspol play their football at a pretty low level, and United should boss this game.
There’s a couple of option here. Given the United price the market is also expecting goals, but I feel they have a good chance of keeping a clean sheet given the way ten Hag has been setting them up. They now have a solid look about them that they didn’t have last season, and dropping Maguire has definitely had a positive impact in that regard. His confidence was gone, and while he will be back, United definitely look better without him. Both Teams Not To Score looks appealing at around 1.7, but I do like United to cover the 1.5 goal handicap. That’s trading the same price as both teams not to score but I feel it’s a far nicer position. As Sheriff Tiraspol start attacking the game will open up and United can bang in the goals for fun in the final third of the game.
