EUROPA LEAGUE PREVIEW: Our European football tipster The Ultra previews Thursday’s games involving MANCHESTER UNITED, RANGERS, ARSENAL and TOTTENHAM all with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MANCHESTER UNITED V AC MILAN
5.55pm We kick off the Last 16 in the Europa League on Thursday and we start with a cracker! Two old European giants go toe-to-toe as Manchester United meet AC Milan and it should be fascinating. You have to say that this is an excellent chance for United to get into the Quarter Finals as they meet AC Milan at a good time. AC Milan topped the table in Serie A for almost the whole season but the wheels have come off in recent weeks. They are now six points behind Inter Milan and their xG figures say they are out of form. United are coming off a 2-0 win at Manchester City which was very impressive, however it must be noted they have thrown in a couple of poor performances in recent weeks!
This could be a cagey first leg, but it’s up to United to make the running here and get a good start while AC Milan are there for the beating. For tonight, I can’t see past the United win at 1.7. SLAVIA PRAGUE V RANGERS
5.55pm It’s already been an excellent week for Rangers after they were confirmed as Champions of Scotland. However, it was clear they would win the title for months and they would really love to get through this tie. We all know what a tough side Slavia Prague are after they knocked out Leicester in the Last 32, and I’m sure Rangers won’t have spent too much time celebrating the confirmation of their league win at the weekend. Leicester had a 0-0 draw here in the last round where they didn’t create much, and it will be interesting to see what Rangers create as their Europa League games have been jam packed with goals.
Rangers saw a huge amount of goal action in the Group stages with results like 3-3, 2-2 and 3-2. They then beat Royal Antwerp 4-3 and 5-2! It will be very interesting to see how this game goes because Slavia Prague like to keep things tight and Rangers seemingly enjoy end-to-end games. I don’t think we’ll see Rangers attacking a lot this evening, but Both Teams To Score looks good value here at 1.8. Rangers have a track record of landing this bet a lot in the Europa League and Slavia Prague shown just how good they can be against Leicester in the last round. I feel we’ll see goals here!

OLYMPIAKOS V ARSENAL
8pm Next up we have the two London clubs in action at 8pm and we start with Olympiakos hosting Arsenal. Olympiakos are one of the sides who came here from the Champions League, and in fairness to them getting third seemed to be all they could hope for in a Group with Manchester City and Porto. This will be a good test for Arsenal who have seemingly hit some form in recent weeks. I know a lot of football punters don’t trust Arsenal, especially away from home, but they do play pretty well in this competition as they get more time and space from the European sides. They only managed a 1-1 draw with Burnley at the weekend but their xG figures was very good and they were unlucky not to win.
I feel Arsenal will get the job done here, and while this is a game for low stakes I’m happy to take a chance and back Arsenal at 2.0. On paper the result against Burnley at the weekend was “classic Arsenal” but their xG said they played very well. They also impressed against Leicester and they were able to grind it out against Benfica which is promising. The Olympiakos xG figures are poor. Football pundits might say City “only” won 1-0 here but they hammered them – the game finished 2.59 to 0.08 on xG to City. They don’t create many chances and while this might be a tight first leg; Arsenal are worth a small bet.

TOTTENHAM V DINAMO ZAGREB
8pm We finish the action with Spurs hosting Dinamo Zagreb. Once against Spurs bump into a team from Group K as they brushed aside Wolfsberger in the Last 32. Dinamo Zagreb topped that Group finishing four points ahead of Wolfsberger but we have obviously saw how weak Wolfsberger were and it’s fair to say that there is a huge gulf in class here. Spurs come into the game in good form too having turned things around in recent weeks. They now have a chance of a Europa League spot again and they have scored four goals in four of their last six games. They didn’t deserve to lose against West Ham and although they beat Fulham 1-0 they performed much better than 1-0 looking at xG – plus Fulham then went to Anfield and won afterwards.
I think this game will be one way traffic for Spurs and I’m surprised to see them as big as 1.45. I clicked into the market expecting to see them at 1.3 or thereabouts. I know Jose Mourinho opts to rest some of his main XI for the Europa League but as we get to the latter stages you should see a stronger side and Spurs are in great form. I think this is the ideal time to get on Spurs and we know how weak the Zagreb Group was. They also played Krasnodar in the last round and we know how weak they are from their Champions League Group with Chelsea. This should be a comfortable Spurs win.
