EUROPA LEAGUE PREVIEW: Our European football tipster The Ultra previews Thursday’s Europa League Quarter Final games between MANCHESTER UNITED v GRANADA and SLAVIA PRAGUE v ARSENAL both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MANCHESTER UNITED V GRANADA
8pm It’s crunch time in the Europa League Quarter Finals on Thursday as we have the second legs with lots to play for. I have to say, although on paper the tie isn’t gone for Granada as United “only” won the first leg 2-0, you have to think it’s a massive ask. I felt prior to the first leg that if Granada were going to get through then they needed to come away with a result with home advantage. Looking at their xG figures they tend to give away a host of chances away from home and with United in good form recently, it’s hard to see United not winning tonight.
United impressed again at the weekend when beating Spurs 3-1 after going into half time 1-0 down. They finished with an xG of 2.03 and a deserved win. They absolutely bossed the first leg too with an xG of 2.27 to 0.43 and it’s hard to see how Granada turn things around in such a short space of time. Granada are 8th in La Liga, but they are miles off the pace compared to the top sides and they are a pretty average mid-table side. I can’t see past the United win here, however given the result in the first leg I’m happy to keep stakes small with United not needing to win. A draw or even a 1-0 loss would see United through, so they won’t be committing men late if it’s a draw for example. However, they should easily outclass this Granada side who give away too many chances.

SLAVIA PRAGUE V ARSENAL
8pm A fascinating situation, and a fascinating market on BETDAQ Betting Exchange too! Arsenal did “an Arsenal” in the first leg – they dominated the game but gave away a stupid goal right at the death for a 1-1 draw. They not find themselves in a situation where they need to score and put in a performance. We have seen enough of Slavia Prague to know them well enough now as they have knocked out Leicester, Rangers and then drew with Arsenal. They have had some good results, but they look very limited to me. I think if this was any other English side I would be hugely confident, as its Arsenal you always worry – but they should get the job done.
I’m happy to back Arsenal at 1.85 tonight. But I’m also happy to limit stakes and not go mad. That being said there are a lot of reasons to be very confident here. As I said, Slavia Prague are a very limited side and they very rarely created an xG of over 1 in the Europa League. Arsenal bossed the first leg as the game finished with an xG of 2.27 to 0.73 to Arsenal and apart from the Liverpool loss, Arsenal have been playing some very good football lately. An early goal for Arsenal could see them put in a very impressive display at Slavia Prague chase the game, but whatever happens early I feel Arsenal are too big to ignore at 1.85.
