YOUNG BOYS V ASTON VILLA

5.45pm The Champions League is back on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE! We have some absolutely cracking ties in the first week back, but no doubt a lot of football fans are still confused with the competition changes! It’s the first time that Europe’s elite tournament has massively changed since 1992 – we now have 36 sides all competing in a league table. We won’t see home and away fixtures anymore, and I feel that’s where most of the confusion came in the draw! Teams were ranked in four seeding pots, and then they play four home games and four away games, with the draw deciding the fixture list. It’s an interesting way of doing things, and hopefully it brings about more drama. When we get to the knockout stage, the top eight go to the Last 16, with 9th to 24th then having a knockout to see who joins them. From 25th on, they will be eliminated and now transferred to the Europa League which is another big change. Essentially though it all adds up to more games – 125 to 189 – which we all know means more money for UEFA, and that was presumably the driving force behind the change. Another change will be the fixture list – we have Champions League Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week before having Europa League next week.

We kick off the action with Young Boys hosting Aston Villa – this is a massive tie for Aston Villa given it’s their first Champions League game! Unai Emery has done a fantastic job since coming in, and they’ll be hoping to get off to a flying start. They have been given a relatively easy fixture to start; usually the biggest issue for the English clubs here is the pitch. Villa have to face Bayern Munich and Juventus in their Champions League fixture list, so it goes without saying this is a must win game for them. Aston Villa come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.7 with Young Boys 5.2 and the draw is 4.4 at the time of writing. Young Boys were in a Group with Manchester City last season, but they did finished third before getting knocked out quickly in the Europa League. They have made a terrible start to their domestic season though, and this seems an ideal time for Villa to meet them – Villa have conceded plenty of goals at the start of the season but they are scoring too. Young Boys have been pretty poor at the back, and although Overs is a tempting bet at 1.55 I feel there’s more value in the Villa win at 1.7.

The Ultra Says:
Two points win Aston Villa to beat Young Boys at 1.7 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

AC MILAN V LIVERPOOL

8pm We have four games kicking off at 8pm, and the headlight is definitely AC Milan hosting Liverpool. Who could ever forget this fixture in the Champions League Final in 2005 with Liverpool eventually winning on penalties after being 3-0 down. Both clubs are in very difficult places since back then, but they have lifted their domestic titles – they’re still two massive clubs even if they have gone through tough times. AC Milan have had a very difficult start to their Serie A season, and they finally got their first win of the season at the weekend – their performance levels have been good, but it’s still disappointing that they could get wins against Torino, Parma and Lazio. Liverpool suffered a massive setback at the weekend in the Premier League when losing 1-0 to Nottingham Forest at Anfield – after such a strong start to their season under Arne Slot, it’s fair to say that result came from nowhere. More worrying was their performance – they really didn’t create much given they had home advantage. They come into this game trading odds on – Liverpool are 1.98 with AC Milan 4.0 and the draw is also trading 4.0 at the time of writing.

Although they haven’t got the results, AC Milan have an average xG created of over 2.0 at home this season – it’s early days though. AC Milan finished last season with an average xG created of 1.58 – they over-performed that and it will be interesting to see how they perform against the best attacking side in the Premier League last season. That being said, Liverpool are obviously going to go through a few teething errors with Jurgen Klopp setting aside, and it will be interesting to see what tactics Slot decides to go with here. He put Man United to the sword, but as we all know that’s not too difficult these days! I’m happy to stay out of the match odds market as the 1.98 on Liverpool looks a fair price – the market is expecting goals with Over 2.5 goals trading 1.61. The bet I like however is Both Teams To Score at 1.58. We should have a pretty open game here, and although AC Milan might start a little cagey, I’d expect Liverpool to open the game up and I’d have BTTS a little shorter.

The Ultra Says:
One point win Both Teams To Score at 1.58 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
