TUESDAY IN EUROPE: The Ultra previews JUVENTUS v CAGLIARI with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

Both sides will welcome the change in competition given Juventus have been struggling to get over the line in Serie A games and Cagliari are sitting in the relegation zone. Juventus recorded a massive win in the Champions League over Manchester City last weekend, and although they remain unbeaten in Serie A this season they have had far too many draws. Another draw at the weekend put their record at ten draws from sixteen games.
Even though they are still unbeaten, their backers aren’t having a good time of things! Juventus come into this game as the odds on favourites at 1.48 with Cagliari 8.2 and the draw is 4.7 at the time of writing. Given Cagliari are having such a poor season, I’m sure Juventus will be a popular choice here but it’s hard to commit to backing them as short as 1.48 given they have struggled to win games – it’s clear to see where their issues have been too, they just aren’t creating enough chances.
Perhaps they will attack more in a once off Cup game, and it will be interesting to see what tactics they employ. Their average xG created of 1.23 this season in Serie A is amid-table unimpressive figure; ironically given they sit in the relegation zone, Cagliari have actually marginally created more – their average xG created is 0.01 higher at 1.24! Cagliari have also been struggling to score goals though; they aren’t even converting their limited chances. Cagliari have conceded more than Juventus this season, but their average xG conceded at 1.35 isn’t too bad – I would be surprised if they went down from Serie A this season.
Juventus have been excellent at the back. Their average xG conceded is 0.88 which is the best defensive figure in Serie A this season. I wouldn’t be rushing to back Juventus at such short odds even with a good bit in their favour here. I’m much happier to focus on the goals market, and Under 2.5 goals jumps off the page at 2.02. I was surprised to see this market so even – I’d have Unders odds on looking at how both sides are playing. I know Cup games can be more open than league games so I’m not going to go crazy with stakes, but I’d have Unders as the favourite here.
