CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SEMI-FINAL: Our European football tipster The Ultra previews MANCHESTER CITY v PSG with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MANCHESTER CITY V PSG
8pm It’s crunch time in the Semi-Finals of the Champions League this week and we start on Tuesday with Man City against PSG. Champions League nights are made for games like this, and you have to say after years of disappointment Man City are finally so close to getting to a Final – and they would fancy their chances against either Chelsea or Real Madrid too. They can’t ahead of themselves though, and they have a job to do tonight.
It was nice a land a Max Bet on Man City to win the first leg, and we can land another Max Bet on them tonight at 1.74 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. I know they had to work hard to win the first leg 2-1 after going into half-time 1-0 down, and they benefited from some PSG errors but when push came to shove PSG didn’t cope with the pressure. That has been a theme for them on big Champions League nights, and they are going to come under immense pressure from an in-form City side here.
It was a very busy weekend of football, especially with some massive games in La Liga, but I made a point of watching both of these sides play and not just dip in and out of watching the games. I felt you could say both sides had one eye on this fixture, but Man City dominated a poor Crystal Palace side and PSG were lucky to win at home to Lens. I thought Lens created the better chances, and xG agreed with Lens finishing the game with 1.6 to PSG’s 1.23. Not much in it, but a draw would have been a fair result. It’s easy to see PSG haven’t been at their best this season when you look at the French League table – they usually have the title won by now.
There wasn’t much between the sides in the first leg – to coin a classic football phrase it was a game of two halves really – PSG fell apart in the second half. I feel City have been the best side in Europe since Christmas, and their xG figures have been incredibly impressive. For me PSG just concede too many chances and I think the first leg highlighted that – an error is never far away and when you play against a top side like City you just can’t do that. I would have City close to 1.6 here, so the 1.74 is very much a Max Bet. Fingers crossed we can land another Max Bet as we have been on an excellent run lately.
