NORTH MACEDONIA V WALES
7.45pm The International Break comes to an end on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE on Tuesday night with a massive game for Wales as they travel to take on North Macedonia. Most football fans will be expecting Belgium to top this Group, so this is a massive clash in the race for second place and the playoff route. Both sides won their opening games, as you would expect against Kazakhstan and Liechtenstein – however, Kazakhstan could cause either of these sides problems when they have home advantage.
As you would expect, we have a reasonably open betting heat. Wales come into the game as the favourites at 2.5 with North Macedonia 3.25 and the draw is the same price at 3.25 at the time of writing. Both sides were in the goals on Saturday – both scoring three times, but we might see a much more cagey affair here. I can’t see Wales being too open at the start anyway; Under 2.5 goals is trading 1.7 so the market isn’t expecting a very entertaining game – but that 1.7 does look a shade of value.
North Macedonia were impressive when topping a Nations League C Group – obviously a reasonably low level involving Armenia, Faroe Islands and Latvia. Wales topped a B Group, which was a very good bounce back after the previous Nations League but in fairness an A Group is a level above them at the moment. This should be a very good guide to see where Wales are at the moment. North Macedonia were quite average at Euro 2024 qualifying but they did have a very tough Group in fairness; they had no hope against England and Italy!
We have two reasonably limited sides here; Wales are the better side but North Macedonia having home advantage will even things up a little. If I had to have a bet in the match odds market, I would lean towards the draw at 3.25; however I’m very happy with a position on Under 2.5 goals here at 1.7 in what should be a cagey match. Obviously this is a massive game for second spot; but Wales are likely certain of a playoff spot already with a bigger than ever World Cup. Wales are missing some key players but I feel they can grind out a win in a low scoring game; and I’m happy with the Unders position.
