COPA DEL REY: Our European football tipster The Ultra previews Wednesday’s game between BARCELONA v SEVILLA with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
BARCELONA V SEVILLA
8pm It’s crunch time in the Copa Del Rey on Wednesday night as Barcelona host Sevilla two goals down after the first leg. Ironically the sides played the weekend in La Liga and Barcelona ran out 2-0 winners, so if that happened again we would be heading past the full 90 minutes! Barcelona absolutely dominated the game on Saturday as Sevilla only managed to create an xG of 0.13. Barcelona don’t exactly have to chase the game from the start, but they have to go all-out attack at some stage so this should be a cracker.
Sevilla will be hoping for the most boring game possible but Barcelona arrive into the fixture in decent form. Of course they haven’t been at their best this season and they were embarrassed by PSG in the Champions League; but they have been creating some positive xG figures in recent weeks. Sevilla have been very tough to beat however, and I think we can assume they will put 11 men behind the ball to start with here anyway.
That produces an excellent question to be answered in the goals market. If Sevilla are successful at stopping Barcelona then you’d want to be on under 2.5 goals – definitely for an early trade anyway. If there is an early goal however I can see the game being extremely open with lots of action at both ends. Indeed, I hope there’s an early goal to set off the fireworks.
Barcelona are trading 1.53 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange and that looks short enough considering Sevilla have been playing at a very good level this season and of course they did win the first leg 2-0. I laid Barcelona at the weekend against Sevilla and got burnt; they bossed the fixture. I’m happy to give the match odds market a miss here as I think it doesn’t look too far off – perhaps a small Barcelona lay at the odds.
The bet I like here is Both Teams To Score at 1.67. I feel we’ll have a very open game here and Sevilla have played well enough recently to suggest they can score here. I know they didn’t create much at the weekend, but Barcelona will have to take more chances at the back here starting the game two goals down. Even if Sevilla start very cagey, Barcelona will have to attack more and more as the game goes on, so we might have a quiet first half and then fireworks in the second!
