WEDNESDAY CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: The Ultra previews Wednesday’s matches between RANGERS v LIVERPOOL, BARCELONA v INTER MILAN and TOTTENHAM v EINTRACHT FRANKFURT all with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
RANGERS V LIVERPOOL
8pm We have another wonderful night in the Champions League on Wednesday! All eyes on BETDAQ Betting Exchange will no doubt be on Barcelona v Inter Milan as the highlight fixture, but we kick the night off with Rangers hosting Liverpool. After a very bumpy start to the season, Liverpool are in the middle of a massive run. They will be expected to win this game against Rangers and move into a good position in the Champions League, but they had to play Arsenal at the weekend – that didn’t go well with another loss – and then have to play Manchester City this weekend! I would definitely keep an eye on the team news here because Klopp might opt to rest some players here. I doubt he will given the situation in this Group after Liverpool lost heavily to Napoli in their opening game, however there is a chance for him to rest one of two key players. Rangers haven’t looked up to Champions League standard, and unfortunately for them they are going to miss out on the Europa League too – this Group has just been too strong for them. Liverpool needed that confidence boosting win at Anfield last week, and the market is expecting another smooth win here with the Premier League side trading as short as 1.39 at the time of writing. There’s no getting away from the fact that the atmosphere in Scotland is always fantastic, but it’s just hard to see the home side living with the standards Liverpool set.
There’s a big gulf in class between the sides, and we should see that play out again. My only worry from a backing Liverpool point of view is that they had a big game at the weekend with another loss, and then have a massive game coming up this weekend. Even though they have dropped plenty of points already in the Premier League this season, they will still see Manchester City as their main rivals – even if the betting markets don’t anymore! From a betting point of view on this game, I would expect to see a more open game with Rangers having home advantage. Their fans will make them attack, and to be honest they have nothing to gain from sitting back and just playing for a draw here – they are nailed to the bottom of the Group with zero points after all. I feel we’ll see a very open and entertaining game here; Liverpool only really know one way to play and that’s attack. Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.51 and that’s definitely worth having a small investment on. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rangers score at some stage too because Liverpool have been very poor at the back this season, but that just adds to the value on Overs.

BARCELONA V INTER MILAN
8pm Next we have a fantastic Champions League fixture! This is what the Champions League is all about – two huge European giants meet with so much on the line. Barcelona have a huge few days coming up with El Clasico at the weekend, and at the moment at least it looks like they’ll be bang in the title race again with Real Madrid after a poor season last season. Last week we saw a very cagey game and Inter Milan managed to grind out a win. I have to say I wasn’t expecting that because Inter have been pretty average at the start of the season while Barcelona have been playing some incredible football. The game finished on xG 0.70 to 0.14 to Barcelona so even though they created more, there really wasn’t that many chances. The result puts immense pressure on Barcelona though because it seems certain that Bayern Munich will top this Group, so Barcelona find themselves three points behind Inter Milan. A loss would be a total disaster and see them in the Europa League for the second time in two seasons – not the place the club want to be. With home advantage though you’d really fancy Barcelona to bounce back here, especially considering they have been playing so well this season. We’re going to have a lot of big opinions on this game though and on the Barcelona price at around 1.48.
Barcelona have been exceptionally impressive in La Liga this season. When you flick through their xG figures you will see performances of 4.81, 2.51, 2.53 and 5.24. It was possibly worrying that they only managed to created an xg of 0.62 away to Mallorca before the loss to Inter, but as I said above there really wasn’t much between the sides that night. From that point of view, perhaps Barcelona at 1.48 are a little short. I do expect them to win because Inter haven’t been great this season, however it’s hard to make the case that Barcelona should be shorter than 1.48 here. They could hardly be 1.4 for example given the result last week and how little there was between the sides – it’s not like they hammered them and created an xG of 4.0 and were just unlucky. We’re going to have a fascinating game here, and I would expect Inter to be very negative too. A draw would be a great result for them, so I expect every cagey Italian trick in the book here. I was surprised to see Under 2.5 goals trading so high, but I expect Inter to sit back so much that they won’t get any chances here – Both Teams Not To Score at 2.08 or bigger is my selection. Barcelona will have to work very hard to break down this Inter side, and we’ll probably see a game without many chances here.

Two points win Both Teams Not To Score at 2.08 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

TOTTENHAM V EINTRACHT FRANKFURT
8pm We move to Group D to finish the evening as Spurs host Eintracht Frankfurt. This is another massive Champions League tie with a lot on the line again! We actually have a fantastic night ahead. This Group is wide open after the result last week – at the moment Sporting Lisbon top the Group with six points, followed by Spurs and Eintracht Frankfurt on four and then Marseille on three. As I said last week, Sporting Lisbon will be expected to fall back towards the end of the Group, so first place is definitely still there for both of these sides. The result here will have a huge impact on that, and Spurs will be delighted to have home advantage in such a big game. As I said last week, Spurs wouldn’t have been unhappy with a draw in Germany and that’s the way it played out. It was actually very unlucky for Spurs because they were fantastic and should have won the game. They were unlucky not to score in the first half, and they actually finished the game with an xG of 2.26. Hopefully they don’t regret not taking their chances, but everything is still to play for here. Frankfurt have been reasonably solid in the Bundesliga this season – they are hanging around the Europa League and Europa Conference League spots again and that’s pretty much the higher end of their level. They could only managed 11th last season in the Bundesliga, but are here through winning the Europa League obviously.
With such a good display from Spurs last week, it’s hard to get away from them here at 1.57. They have appeared to be much more solid at home this season too – all of their poor performances have come away from home as I noted before last week. They were much the better side though, and if they play even close to that level they should win here. It will actually be interesting to see what tactics Frankfurt employ here – I can’t see Conte changing much as he will know Spurs are the better side – but do Frankfurt put XI men behind the ball and try get a draw? Where will that leave them in the Group; can they afford to do that? They might actually view that as the best outcome here, and then rely on their final two games. Based on last week though, and with home advantage here too, and I can’t see past Spurs and they are a confident bet at 1.57.
The Ultra Says:
Four points win Tottenham to beat Eintracht Frankfurt at 1.57 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
