CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PREVIEW: Our European football tipster The Ultra previews Wednesday’s games between LIVERPOOL V RB LEIPZIG and PSG V BARCELONA both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
LIVERPOOL V RB LEIPZIG
8pm Another fantastic night of Champions League action. While we had two games with only a goal between them on Tuesday night, we need to see more dramatic comebacks tonight with Liverpool two goals ahead and PSG 4-1 up in the other game. Liverpool benefited from mistakes at the back from RB Leipzig in the first leg as they went into the game in poor form. They go into this game after losing a sixth straight game at Anfield at the weekend against Fulham – I’d say they are delighted this is a neutral venue! There’s no getting away from the fact that Liverpool have been very poor since November and it looks unlikely they will even finish in the top four in the Premier League now. Even though they are two goals down, RB Leipzig have an excellent chance tonight.
Leipzig come into the game in good form too – however in fairness they did have a good run of results before the first leg and Liverpool looked the better side. They have been scoring goals for fun since though with 11 goals in four games and things could get very interesting with an early Leipzig goal. It’s hard to know what’s going on with Liverpool, they just aren’t creating the same chances last season. Their xG was 0.32 against Chelsea and then they only managed 0.98 against Fulham at the weekend. Leipzig have been putting in much better figures, although I take on board that they have been playing weaker opposition than say Chelsea for example. I can’t wait to see what happens in this game, but from a betting point of view the call is the Liverpool lay at 2.5. That price looks too short given the way Liverpool have been playing lately, and hopefully Leipzig can take full advantage.

PSG V BARCELONA
8pm Of all the first leg ties, this was the most dramatic on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as PSG ran riot in the second half. You almost forget that Barcelona took the lead, and now they have a mountain to climb. Of course, we have seen an incredible comeback from Barcelona in this fixture before! However, that came in Barcelona, and they were 4-0 down from the first leg – so they are actually in a better position this time! The problem for Barcelona this time around is they just aren’t as good as they once were. They have dropped their level this season, and although they have been putting in some decent xG figures since a very poor start in La Liga perhaps the first leg result was a sign of where Barcelona are at the moment in European football.
Much like the above game, I’m very interested to see what happens. It’s a shame both are on at the same time! PSG are still two points behind Lille in Ligue 1 which is an unusual position for them – they usually have the title won by now! They have lost six games in France this season which shows they haven’t been at their best but they have had issues with a change in manager etc. I feel the match odds are about right and I’m happy to give PSG a pass at 2.2, although I do feel they should come out on top. It’s hard not to see a host of goals here with two attacking teams and Barcelona needing to chase the game. Barcelona might not be as good as they once were, but they still have the magic to score and PSG will exploit the gaps they leave at the back. I’d have over 3.5 goals odds on and I’m happy to take the 2.0.
