ATALANTA V BAYER LEVERKUSEN

8pm We have a blockbuster Europa League Final on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE as Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen clash in Dublin on Wednesday night. This should be a high quality game, and Bayer Leverkusen come into the game as the heavy favourites after confirming their unbeaten season in the Bundesliga at the weekend. They have a massive European Final here, and they are also in the Final of the German Cup too. What a season it’s been for Xabi Alnoso, he will be in high demand during the summer.

Unfortunately for Atalanta, they have already lost a big Cup Final, losing the Coppa Italia 1-0 to Juventus last week. They are going to get Champions League football next season though, as Serie A now gets five places with the new UEFA rules. Both sides have been fantastic this season, and we should have a cracker. Bayer Leverkusen are the odds on favourites at 1.88 with Atalanta 4.6 and the draw is 3.9 at the time of writing. It’s not a surprise to see Leverkusen trading odds on; they have been absolutely incredible this season. Not only have they been blowing sides away, when they have needed a late goal to keep their unbeaten record they have come up with the goods time and time again.

Sometimes throughout the season it almost felt like they would never lose – they were finishing games in injury time like Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United. Leverkusen dominated the Bundesliga this season, and it’s hard to find a fault with them to be honest. They finished the season with an average xG of 2.21, and an average xG conceded of 1.02 – both the top attacking and defensive figures in the Bundesliga. They have been rock solid at the back, even conceding less goals than their average xG and that has been the major difference between themselves and Bayern Munich.

Atalanta are obviously a good bit away from challenging for the title in Italy. They have the third best attacking figure with an average xG created of 1.65 and they are sitting in 7th place on average xG conceded. They did superbly well to get here; beating Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield was the shock of the Europa League this season! It will be interesting to see what tactics we get from Atalanta here; they have a big difference in their performances levels at home and away this season. At home they have been superb; an average xG created of 1.92 and an conceded figure of just 1.14. Away has been a different story, only marginally creating more than they are conceding with an average xG created of 1.41 compared to 1.36 at the back.

I feel Atalanta will try to sit back, try to frustrate this Bayer Leverkusen side. Leverkusen are so solid at the back I don’t see that being an issue for them, but it does make the goals market interesting. That market is very 50/50 at the moment and I wouldn’t be surprise if it flip-flops a few times before kick off. I would lean towards Unders given the likely Atalanta tactics, but I feel 2.0 on Under 2.5 goals doesn’t offer the same value as the Leverkusen win at 1.88. Atalanta have played to a good standard this season, but Leverkusen have been on a different planet. They have a special confidence only a run like they’ve had brings to a team, and their under-lining numbers highlight what a good side they are. They tick nearly ever box, and I’m happy with a confident bet on the Leverkusen win at 1.88.

The Ultra Says:
Three points win Bayer Leverkusen to beat Atalanta at 1.88 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
