KOLN V BAYERN MUNICH
7.30pm The midweek Bundesliga action continues on Betdaq Betting Exchange as Koln host Bayern Munich on Wednesday night. Bayern have been absolutely dominant in Germany this season, and they come into the midweek round of fixtures with an eleven point lead at the top of the table. It feels like they had the title won after two matchdays given all the drama with Bayer Leverkusen and Erik ten Hag. The reality is it feels like every time a side challenges Bayern, they end up selling their best players or the manager moves on – it’s happened with Dortmund, RB Leipzig and now Bayer Leverkusen are the latest. At least they won a title and broke the streak for one season!
Bayern have been incredible this season though. The gulf in class between them and the rest has been absolutely massive – 63 goals in just 16 games. Their average xG created is 2.34 which is the best attacking figure from any major league in Europe, never mind just the Bundesliga. They’ve also been superb at the back – their average xG conceded is only 0.89 which is the joint-best from Europe’s elite leagues with Arsenal. Given how competitive the Premier League is, Arsenal’s figure is probably more impressive but domestically Bayern have been in a league of their own this season.
With the Bundesliga title going to be in the bag early this season, that should allow for players to be rested domestically and fresh for the Champions League latter stages. Surely Bayern should be looking at a major run there – we saw how much that benefitted PSG last season. It’s such a big positive – especially when the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid have to fight for every point until the end of the season too. This is another game that Bayern will be expected to tick off with a win, and it’s no surprise that they come into the game as the red-hot favourites. Bayern are trading 1.27 with Koln 11.5 and the draw is 7.4 at the time of writing.
It’s very difficult to see past a win for Bayern here, but obviously there’s no prizes for tipping 1.27 shots so we’ll have to look around the side markets for some value. I would happily include Bayern in any midweek Acca though! Koln have been struggling – they are only five points off the bottom three despite sitting in mid-table and they are currently without a win in seven Bundesliga games. Indeed, they’ve only won once in their last ten. They’ve been conceding goals for fun, and their average xG conceded is quite high at 1.57. That’s not a performance level to bring when you face Bayern, and I feel Bayern can cover the handicap on the way to winning here – they’re trading 1.69 -1.5 goals and that looks cracking value.
