LA LIGA PREVIEW: Our European football tipster The Ultra previews Wednesday’s La Liga games between ATLETICO MADRID v GETAFE and ELCHE v REAL MADRID both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
ATLETICO MADRID V GETAFE
6.15pm A massive Wednesday evening at the top of La Liga! Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid went into Christmas at the top of the table with 32 points; however critically Atletico Madrid have two games in hand. I have said before that this is their best ever chance of landing a La Liga title and I still believe that. Real are a little short of their best but they have gained good momentum before Christmas, while Barcelona are well off the pace this season. This is Atletico’s best chance and they have to take it – in order to do that they have to win games like this. Getafe are a solid mid to lower table side, and Atletico must win games like this to lift the title.
I have to say I really like Atletico Madrid here at 1.49. I believe that price offers a huge amount of value, and you won’t find a better bet looking around the side markets. Getafe don’t create many chances at all – indeed they were lucky to manage a 1-1 draw with Celta Vigo ending the game with an xG of just 0.26. Indeed, their last six xG figures read: 0.26, 0.86, 0.60, 0.57, 0.65 and 0.35. They are very poor figures and they haven’t been playing big clubs either – they have played the likes of Cadiz, Levante, Athletic Bilbao and Eibar. All clubs in the bottom half of the table. Atletico have been excellent this season, and this can be another three points for them. They should be shorter than 1.4 for me.

ELCHE V REAL MADRID
8.30pm Real Madrid will have the luxury of knowing the Atletico Madrid score from earlier in the evening but the reality is they have to win regardless. Atletico had two games in hand on them at the start of the day and the same number of points – so Real just have to keep winning and hope Atletico drop points along the way. In fairness to Real they have built some good momentum before the Christmas break after a slow start to the season. They have had some crazy results, including a 1-0 loss to Cadiz at home and a 4-1 loss to Valencia too! Elche have been very poor this season though, and this should be a straightforward win for Real, and the market agrees with them trading 1.32 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange.
Real have found their groove in recent weeks and they have won their last five in all competitions by two goals or more. I expect them to do the same again here and I like them at 1.78 to cover the 1.5 goal handicap. I feel a similar view applies to Elche here as the first game this evening between Atletico Madrid and Getafe. Elche’s xG figures are very poor – they have had some draws recently but for example they only created an xG of 0.05 that day, and only 0.15 prior to that against Cadiz. The 1.78 on the handicap looks well worth backing here.
