WEDNESDAY EUROPA LEAGUE: The Ultra previews MANCHESTER UNITED v TWENTE with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MANCHESTER UNITED V TWENTE
8pm The Europa League is the focus on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE this week as we kick off the new tournament on Wednesday night! All eyes will be on Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United as they begin their campaign by hosting Twente – the home side come into the game as the red-hot favourites, and no doubt anything bar a comfortable win for United will see the knives out for ten Hag from the media! Manchester United are trading 1.32 with Twente 10.5 and the draw is 6.2 at the time of writing.
United were held to a 0-0 draw at the weekend by Crystal Palace away from home, but they should have won – they finished the game with an xG created of nearly double what they conceded, and it was just a case of them not taking their chances. Obviously the jury is still out on Erik ten Hag’s comments that this is a “proper back four” for United and to “not compare last season to this” but their under-lining numbers would suggest there is some truth in that to be fair to him. United’s average xG conceded this season is only 1.19 which is a lot better than 1.73 last season which was the fourth worst defensive figure in the Premier League!
Twente were a solid third in the Eredivisie last season, but they were miles off the top two. There is a big gulf in class between the sides here, and you can fully understand why United come into the game so short. Twente have had a reasonably good start to this season in Holland, but again you would say their best case scenario is third. Twente haven’t really played any of the major sides from Holland to get an idea how they would play here – but they did lose to RB Salzburg in Champions League qualifying – they lost 2-1 away from home and then it was 3-3 in the second leg. They scored five goals at the weekend against Almere, but given United’s new look defence I don’t think the 1.32 appeals as a lay here.
I feel this is about how many goals can United score rather than will they win, and with United trading so short in the match odds market we’ll have to look around the side markets for some value. The market is expecting goals with Over 2.5 goals trading 1.54 and Both Teams To Score is marginally odds on at 1.92. I do feel we’ll see an open game here as United have attacked at Old Trafford this season, plus they have been pretty impressive going forward. I’m happy to keep stakes small, but Over 2.5 goals looks a nice option at 1.54.
The Ultra Says:
One point win Over 2.5 goals at 1.54 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
