REAL MADRID V MANCHESTER CITY

8pm We have a massive fixture from the Champions League on Betdaq Betting Exchange this Wednesday! There’s no doubt all of the focus will be on two European giants as Real Madrid host Manchester City. I know with the new Champions League Group format, these two clubs are certain to progress to the next level, but we have a fascinating game ahead nonetheless – especially with what is seemingly going on at Real Madrid at the moment. The rumours are the players are unhappy with Xabi Alonso – claiming he is over-working them in training.

Within the space of five games, they’ve given away a five point lead after winning El Clasico to being four points behind Barcelona now. Obviously the results aren’t helping the rumours! Hosting Pep Guardiola – the old enemy – on a massive European night, it’ll be very interesting to see the effort levels from the players here. They dominated the El Clasico win over Barcelona despite it being “only” a 2-1 win, and in fairness they were unlucky with the three drawn games – they finished them with a high xG figure. A 2-0 loss at home to Celta Vigo is obviously going to create headlines, but again they finished with a high xG figure. It was 2.49; they just aren’t taking their chances at the moment.

Obviously this run has come at the same time that the players are “unhappy” and it seems to be the perfect storm. I wouldn’t be concerned about their performance level, but it’s a fascinating situation nonetheless. As you would expect, we have a very open betting heat – there’s actually only six ticks between the sides. Real Madrid are the favourites at 2.6 with Manchester City 2.66 and the draw is trading 4.1 at the time of writing.

While it was a terrible weekend for Real in La Liga, it was a great weekend in the Premier League for Manchester City. A routine 3-0 win at home to Sunderland became a massive result when Arsenal lost to Aston Villa, meaning the gap at the top of the table was down to two points. Arsenal have been playing some fantastic football this season, but obviously the big question is can they handle the pressure – which we know Manchester City can. City were far too easy to play through last season, and it feels like Guardiola has fixed that – an average xG conceded of just 1.11 is impressive, second best to Arsenal in the Premier League.

As I said above, it’s no surprise that we have an open betting heat here, but I do feel there has been a big over-reaction to the current run of Real results. Yes, they are bad but as I said they are playing some great football – they just aren’t taking their chances. We’ve had some blockbusters between these two recently – Over 2.5 goals has collected in four of the last five meetings. That’s trading 1.54 here so the market is expecting goals. On balance, I feel the Real price is a little big at 2.6 but also the draw is tempting at 4.1 – I know City are playing well at the moment, but I do feel the value call is the City lay here to have the Real win and the draw on our side.

The Ultra Says:
Two points lay (liability) Manchester City to beat Real Madrid at 2.66 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
