SUPER CUP: The Ultra previews Wednesday’s Super Cup between PSG and Tottenham with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
PSG V TOTTENHAM
8pm It’s UEFA Super Cup time on Betdaq Betting Exchange on Wednesday as we tick down to the beginning of the 2025/26 season! We are back with a bang at the weekend, but we had a warm-up with the Community Shield at the weekend and now it’s time for the European warm-up as the Champions League winners meet the Europa League winners. PSG take on Spurs, and it’ll be interesting to see how Spurs get on here – they had a terrible domestic season and now with a new manager and their best player leaving, it’s fair to say that the jury is out. If PSG hammer them here, they’ll be heading into the new Premier League season with a lot of critics already on their back!
Ange Postecoglou winning the clubs first trophy wasn’t enough to keep his job, but it did get quite toxic at times with the fans. You get the feeling that Postecoglou was a winner – he had a superb mentality much like Mourinho and Conte before him, and that mentality doesn’t tend to sit well with Spurs who don’t achieve much. Thomas Frank will be tasked to steady the ship – his goal getting consistent Champions League football. He’ll have a very tough task getting that this season with Son gone now, and it might be a case of re-building the squad. We could quite easily see another situation with the fans not happy with the manager – Spurs have had five managers in six years now.
From a PSG point of view, everything is going perfectly for them. Current Champions League winners, and they very nearly won the FIFA Club World Cup during the summer too. They came up short in the Final against Chelsea, looking like a tired side after a long year of pressing. Obviously they have the benefit of a very weak domestic league, and that definitely helps their cause ahead of the big European nights. It’s no surprise to see them come into this game as the odds on favourites – PSG are trading 1.47 with Tottenham 7.4 and the draw is 5.4 at the time of writing.
At the start of the season, I’m happy to keep stakes small. Winning this trophy is much better than the Community Shield at the weekend, however it’s still just a glorified friendly – PSG won’t point to this trophy if they come up short in Ligue 1 this season for example! I have to say I feel Spurs will have a very difficult season ahead, and while Frank should be given time to settle in, they come up against one of the best sides in the world here. Given the amount of chances Spurs conceded last season and how poor they were at the back, PSG can cover the handicap on the way to winning here – I’m happy with a small bet at 2.17 -1.5 goals.
The Ultra Says:
One point win PSG -1.5 goals to beat Tottenham at 2.17 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
