UEFA NATIONS LEAGUE: We preview Friday’s UEFA Nations League games between ITALY v POLAND and TURKEY v RUSSIA both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
ITALY V POLAND
7.45pm It must have really hurt the Italians watching the World Cup! Sweden shocked them in the Playoffs when keeping two clean sheets against them and Italy had a summer of watching the TV rather than playing football. Luckily there isn’t much time to rest these days and they get back into the swing of things here. They face Poland who had a poor World Cup – they were mentioned as a ‘Dark Horse’ type team but they lost their first two games and went home early.
Italy are odds on favourites, with the match odds at the time of writing currently trading; Italy 1.76, Poland 6.2 and the draw is 3.65. You have to think that Italy will have put a lot of hard work in to improve their performances after not reaching the World Cup. Poland looked poor when getting beaten by Senegal and 3-0 by Colombia who themselves looked poor against England afterwards. We feel with home advantage Italy should be ten ticks shorter here and we’re happy to back them at 1.76.

TURKEY V RUSSIA
7.45pm After a wonderful World Cup run, Russia are back in action in the UEFA Nations League! Russia impressed at the World Cup with their work rate and they were very tough to beat – they managed to hold Spain and Croatia to draws in 90 minutes and obviously the quality of Turkey is well below both those sides. Turkey is always an intimidating place to play with the passion of their fans, and we should see a close game here.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Turkey 2.24, Russia 3.75 and the draw is 3.75. After seeing Russia in action at the World Cup, the Turkey lay jumps off the page here at 2.24 – as we noted above Russia are very tough to beat with their high work rate and with Turkey lacking a bit of quality to break Russia down, we simply have to lay Turkey at 2.24. We expect Russia to give them a very tough game, and from a value point of view – this game should be way closer than odds of 2.24 suggest.
