WEDNESDAY FOOTBALL FEAST: What a night of football to look forward to with the final two Quarter Finals in the Champions League, West Ham v Man U in the FA Cup and Crystal Palace v Everton in the Premier League.
We start our preview by looking at the two games in the Champions League:
Atletico Madrid v Barcelona
and
Benfica v Bayern Munich
Atletico Madrid v Barcelona 7-45
Attack v Defense! Atletico did superbly well for most of the first leg but Barcelona stuck back and won 2-1, indeed all three meetings between the sides this year has seen the same pattern, Atletico score first before Barcelona come back and win 2-1. Barcelona have won their last seven games against Atletico in all competitions, so 2.4 on the basis looks massive.
Atletico have a brilliant defensive record here though, they have kept a clean sheet in 12 of their last 14 home games in the Champions League – that’s an incredible stat when you think about it. And Simeone has won 11 of his 15 Champions League games at the Calderon. Their record against Barcelona would have to worry you though, and Messi loves playing against Atletico – he has scored 25 goals in 29 games against them. Its tempting to back 0-0 at around 12.0 given the way Atletico play but they’ll have to go chasing a goal at some stage, and that’s where Barcelona can pick them off – and 2.4 looks worth taking.

Benfica v Bayern Munich 7-45
19 out of 28 teams who have won the first leg 1-0 have made it to the next stage of the Champions League, that’s 68%. So while Bayern may have been disappointed to only win 1-0 (the betting markets certainly suggested more!), they should still be confident to making it through to the semi finals for the sixth time in seven years.
However, interestingly Bayern are without a win in their last six away Champions League knock out games – that would certainly put you off lumping on 1.56! Bayern should have the class to win but there doesn’t seem to be much value in 1.56.
It might be worth backing over 2.5 goals at 1.9 or bigger. Benfica will have to attack so that could leave plenty of space for Bayern to counter, they’ve scored 26 goals in this years Champions League so far!

West Ham United v Manchester United – FA Cup 7-00
It takes a brave person to back United away from home these days. And with West Ham having a superb season this far, they look value to continue United’s misery at 2.68. Obviously the head-to-head record favours United, but this is a different United team these days and its hard to read much into the fact that West Ham are without a win in the last 11 meetings between the sides given United’s form away from home these days, there was a similar stat about United wins at home to West Ham before the first meeting and they needed a late goal to grab a draw.
Louis Van Gaal is under huge pressure for a win here to seemingly keep his job, however we’ve been saying that for month now and he seems to survive no matter what! His time could be up tonight though with a West Ham win.

Crystal Palace v Everton – Premier League 8-00
Crystal Palace ended a run of 14 games in the Premier League without a win at the weekend beating Norwich, however despite that and their recent good record against Everton – lost just one of the last five – its hard to see Everton not getting a result here given their superb away from this season. They’ve struggled at home, but they’ve lost just two of their last 16 away in the Premier League. They currently sit at 2.68 in the 90 minutes market, however draw-no-bet could even be a better bet around the 1.9 mark given they have lost so few away from home. On the Anytime goalscorer market, its worth noting that Lukaku has scored in his last three appearances against Palace.
