WEEK AHEAD: Plenty to look forward to as the final Test between England and Inida begins whilst the Premier League returns, and more.
Monday brings the conclusion of the fourth test between England and India from the Oval. With the series currently tied, it could be a vital day for both sides as we look ahead to the final Test later in the week.
There were mixed fortunes for the Home Nations last week in the first round of international fixtures. Scotland were outclassed by Denmark last week, but a closer game can be anticipated when they take on Austria on Tuesday evening.
On Wednesday it’s the turn of the other three nations, as Northern Ireland face a tough test against Switzerland, Wales host Estonia while England travel to Poland full of confidence after their impressive performance in Budapest. All games kick-off at 19:45, with England live on ITV and Wales and Northern Ireland available on Sky Sports.
On Thursday, the BMW PGA Championship gets underway at the Wentworth Club, London, where most of the stars of the European Tour should be in action. Coverage begins from 08:30 on Sky Sports.
The players tee off for their second rounds on Friday, but the big event of the day is the first day of the final Test between England and India from Old Trafford. England will be hoping for another lightning start, similar to those they managed at Headingly and The Oval.
Later on, boxing fans will have to prepare for a long night or early rise as at 03:00 on Saturday morning as Oscar Valdez takes on Robson Conceicao for the WBC Super-Featherweight Title, live on Sky Sports.
Day 2 of the Test match begins at 11:00 on Saturday Sky Sports and takes us through to the afternoon, where the Premier League returns after the international break. In the early kick-off, top of the table Tottenham travel to Selhurst Park to take on Patrick Viera’s Crystal Palace, live on Sky Sports at 12:30. Later at 17:00 Chelsea face Aston Villa as Thomas Tuchel’s side look to continue their strong start to the campaign.
By Sunday the Test match should be beginning to take shape and day 3 has the potential to set things up for a nerve-wracking final two days. In the Italian Grand Prix – 14:00 Sky Sports – Lewis Hamilton will be eager to hit back at F1 Drivers’ Championship leader Max Verstappen. Later in the day the BMW PGA Championship concludes with the winner taking home a share of the $8 million purse.
To round off an exciting week of live action, Leeds United take on Liverpool at Elland Road in the 16:30 kick-off, with the action live on Sky Sports.
