WEEK AHEAD: This week the T20 World Cup gets into gear and the Premier League hots up with both midweek and weekend fixtures.


Monday evening sees Saracens host London Irish at the StoneX Stadium in the Rugby Premiership Cup at 19:45 (BT Sport).

Tuesday night sees Brighton host Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Amazon Prime (19:30) before Blackburn v Sunderland in the Championship which kicks off 20:00 (Sky Sports). There is another fixture on Amazon Prime from 20:15 as Wolves travel to Crystal Palace in what is a massive game for both clubs.

A busy Wednesday starts off with Scotland’s second group stage match in the T20 World Cup against Ireland. A real crunch match at 05:00 on Sky Sports. The Amazon Prime Premier League domination continues as Bournemouth welcome Southampton, Brentford host Chelsea, Liverpool see a visit from West Ham and Newcastle face Everton, all kicking off at 19:30. The Championship squeezes in a fixture on Sky Sports with Watford taking a trip to south east London to take on Millwall at 20:00. The pick of the evening, Manchester United v Tottenham will play out from 20:15 on Amazon Prime with a result that is anyone’s guess.

The first rounds at the Mallorca Golf Open get underway on Thursday from 13:00 on Sky Sports before Arsenal get tested in the Europa League with PSV Eindhoven making the trip from the Netherlands (18:00, BT Sport). Fulham have a tough battle with Aston Villa at 19:30 on Amazon Prime and then the CJ Cup tees off at 20:00 (Sky Sports). Amazon Prime will show Leicester’s massively important battle with Leeds at 20:15 and night owls can then catch NFL action, with the New Orleans Saints v Arizona Cardinals at 00:30 on Sky Sports.

It’s another early start for the cricket fans who will need to be up at 05:00 to catch West Indies v Ireland on Sky Sports. If they aren’t heading straight back to bed they’ll have the clash between Scotland and Zimbabwe (09:00, Sky Sports) to power them through Friday morning and onto lunch time when the Mallorca Golf Open tees off once again at 13:00 on Sky Sports. There is another big battle in the Premiership Rugby as Gloucester travel to London Irish at 19:45 on BT Sport and the evening is closed out with the CJ Cup starting again on Sky Sports at 20:00.

On Saturday morning the T20 World Cup gets into full swing with a clash of the titans: New Zealand taking on Australia at 08:00 on Sky Sports. The day keeps getting better as Tottenham Women play Manchester City Women in the WSL at 11:30 (Sky Sports) and then England make their first appearance in the T20 World Cup with their opener against Afghanistan at 12:00 on Sky Sports. Nottingham Forest then face Liverpool and will hope Jurgen Klopp’s side don’t turn up in the form of their last Champions League game (12:30, BT Sport).

There is an almighty coming together in the Scottish Premiership as Hearts welcome Celtic at 12:30 on Sky Sports, while at the same time the Mallorca Golf Open heads into its third day (Sky Sports). Exeter Chiefs face Saracens at 15:00 (BT Sport) and Chelsea host Manchester United in one of the games of the season at 17:30 (Sky Sports). The CJ Cup continues into the evening at 20:00 and eases us through the night to Sunday morning.

One of the biggest fixtures of the T20 World Cup, India v Pakistan gets underway at 09:00 on Sunday on Sky Sports before Swansea host Cardiff in a Championship local rivalry at 12:00 (Sky Sports). Liverpool v Arsenal in the WSL is the highlight of lunchtime (12:00, BBC) before the Premier League offers us Southampton v Arsenal at 14:00 (Sky Sports) where the Gunners will look to maintain their incredible form. The conclusion of both golf tournaments, the Mallorca Golf Open and CJ Cup, will be live throughout the day from 12:00 and 20:00 respectively on Sky Sports.

Leicester Tigers v Wasps in the Rugby Premiership gets going at 15:00 (BT Sport) and Tottenham v Newcastle is on at 16:30 (Sky Sports). A battle of the blues in Brighton v Chelsea in the WSL, kicks off at 18:45 on Sky Sports with the United States Grand Prix starting at 20:00 (Sky Sports). With nothing at stake, can Lewis Hamilton find a first win of the season? Pittsburgh Steelers v Miami Dolphins rounds off a very entertaining week of elite sport and sets us up for what can only be a comedown next week. Or will it be?
