WEEK AHEAD: After a long, dry summer without a weekly football fix, fans will welcome the return of the EFL and Premier League, which both get fully underway for the 2022/23 season.
The week starts relatively quietly on Monday with newly relegated Watford starting their Championship campaign off against a potentially resurgent Sheffield United (20:00, Sky).
Tuesday is a quiet day with no sporting events of note taking place on our screens.
On Wednesday, the popular 100-ball cricket competition, The Hundred, returns for its second season, with the opening match featuring last year’s winners Southern Brave against Welsh Fire from 19:00 on Sky.
Thursday gets into gear with a dose of golf and the first day of the Cazoo Open, which is shown at 14:30 on Sky. In the second match of the new The Hundred season, the Oval Invincibles take on London Spirit at 18:30 on Sky, before golf on the PGA Tour begins from the Wyndham Championship at 20:00 (Sky).
Friday sees the second day of the Cazoo Open get going on Sky at 14:30, while the Manchester Originals take on the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred at 18:30 on Sky. Crystal Palace face Arsenal at 20:00 on Sky in the first Premier League fixture of the season. Play from the Wyndham Championship continues with its second day at 20:00 (Sky).
Saturday will be a busy day of sport, beginning with the Cazoo Open third day at 10:30 on Sky. Fulham then take on Liverpool at 12:30 on BT. Can the Reds start the season with a win at Craven Cottage? Norwich play Wigan in the Championship in their first game back in the second tier (12:30, Sky), before the Trent Rockets take to the field against Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred at 14:30 on Sky. Everton and Chelsea’s Premier League campaign begin at Goodison Park (17:30, Sky) and the Wyndham Championship day three tees off at 20:00 (Sky).
Sunday rounds off the week with the fourth day of the Cazoo Open beginning at 10:30 on Sky, before in the Scottish Premiership Hibernian take on Hearts at 12:00 (Sky). Manchester United’s season under new manager, Erik Ten Hag, gets going against Brighton at 14:00 (Sky). Welsh Fire play Oval Invincibles in The Hundred at 14:00 (Sky). At 16:30 (Sky), holders Manchester City start their Premier League title defence against West Ham. The weekend ends with the golf as the Wyndham Championship concludes from 20:00 on Sky.
