WEEK AHEAD: Premier League and European football serves as the starter for a weekend that features The Masters and The Aintree Grand National.
For some, perfection is a dream and not an achievable reality, however, this week could persuade the strongest disbeliever as we look forward to seven-days of sporting action perfection.
The week gets underway on Monday with Premier League action live from Goodison Park as Everton take on Crystal Palace, with just eight points separating the sides both will be hungry for a result and later in the evening Wolves host West Ham who will be hopeful of keeping a hold on their fifth-place spot. The Premier League Darts returns to action this week on Sky Sports and the action can be seen every day at 19:00 until Friday.
The Champions League quarter finals headline the midweek action where all four games will be live on BT Sport at 20:00. The first two games are featured on Tuesday with Manchester City hosting Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool taking the trip to Real Madrid, where Jurgen Klopp’s men will be hopeful they can take advantage of the Spanish club’s captain, Sergio Ramos, missing the fixture through injury.
The first of Wednesday’s fixtures looks a thriller with current Champions Bayern Munich playing PSG and an in-form Chelsea taking the visit to FC Porto. Earlier in the day, South Africa face Pakistan in their final ODI of the series before beginning the T20 instalment of the tour which begins on a jam-packed Saturday.
Thursday brings with it Europa League action with Arsenal and Manchester United both in action at 20:00 but feature honours fall to the first round of The Masters which begins at 14:00. In what will be a fiercely competitive tournament Dustin Johnson will attempt to emulate the greats of the game by successfully defending his title, the action can be seen daily from Augusta until the final round on Sunday evening.
Friday arrives and the sporting action only ramps up, the IPL returns to Sky Sports in the afternoon along with ITV Racing’s coverage from Aintree building up to the feature race on Saturday.
The bumper weekend gets started on Saturday with league leaders Man City hosting Leeds before more Premier League action in the shape of Liverpool and Aston Villa, before the day’s action is rounded off between Crystal Palace and Chelsea. Preceding that there’s an IPL fixture and the biggest event in Jumps racing as Cloth Cap bids to land the spoils in the Grand National live on ITV. Later in the evening, Conor Benn and Samuel Vargas will be fighting it out around 22:30 with a full undercard beforehand on Sky Sports.
Sunday is no less hectic with four Premier League fixtures taking place which are headlined by Tottenham and Manchester United in the 16:30 kick off, there is also more IPL action before the days main event. It doesn’t get any bigger in the golfing calendar than the final round of the Masters and the Sunday’s action rounds off a cracking weeks’ worth of sport.
