WORLD CUP: We preview Monday’s four World Cup games between SAUDI ARABIA V EGYPT, URUGUAY V RUSSIA, IRAN V PORTUGAL and SPAIN V MOROCCO each with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
SAUDI ARABIA V EGYPT
3pm We start the final round of Group games on Monday afternoon and it’s unfortunate that we start with two teams already out of the competition. Russia have easily beaten both sides, while Uruguay grinded out two 1-0 wins; so here we are with only pride to play for.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Saudi Arabia 5.0, Egypt 1.89 and the draw is 3.6. Saudi Arabia looked very poor against Russia in their opening game, however they played more respectable against Uruguay last time out. Egypt could have easily got a draw against Uruguay and it was a very late goal that cost them the game – with nothing to play for we can see a more open game here and plenty of action. It’s tempting to back Egypt at 1.89 as they look to have more class than Saudi Arabia however over 2.5 goals is 1.84 and that looks huge value.

URUGUAY V RUSSIA
3pm Both these sides are happily through to the next round of the tournament; however we have the matter of who finishes first and second to settle here. We have a very open market, with the match odds at the time of writing; Uruguay 2.7, Russia 3.15 and the draw is 3.15. Russia have scored eight goals in two games, while Uruguay have had to grind out to 1-0 wins.
Looking at the stats, it appears that Russia are the most hard working team in this World Cup – so far anyway. They have covered way more ground than anyone else; however it will be interesting to see what approach they take to this game. Do they risk running themselves into the ground having already got through? We feel that given the way that both sides have played so far, the market has this one wrong – we have Russia as favourites and Uruguay outsiders so from a value point of view er’re happy to lay Uruguay at 2.7.

IRAN V PORTUGAL
7pm Everything is on the line here with a place in the next round on offer. Currently Portugal have four points after drawing with Spain and beating Morocco, while Iran sit with three points after losing to Spain and also beating Morocco. Obviously a draw will be good enough for Portugal; however as we have seen plenty of times in the Champions League this year – that is a risky mindset to have going into a big game.
Portugal are odds on favourites, with the match odds at the time of writing; Iran 6.2 Portugal 1.73 and the draw is 3.75. Iran played respectable against Spain when only losing 1-0, and this won’t be as easy as many people think for Portugal. They do look good value at 1.73 though; that price looks at least five ticks too big. Ronaldo has been in superb form so far in this World Cup and he continues to carry Portugal through – they should prove to have too much class for this Iran side and we’re happy to back them at the odds.

SPAIN V MOROCCO
7pm While everything is to play for in the other Group B game tonight; Spain will have to make sure not to slip up against Morocco. The markets don’t see much chance of that happening, with Spain heavy odds on favourites. At the time of writing the match odds are currently; Spain 1.37, Morocco 12.5 and the draw is 5.2.
Morocco have nothing to play for here so we could well see them ‘having a go’ as they say. That will surely play into the Spanish hands as the more space in this game the more chances this Spanish team will create. It’s hard to see Morocco being able to get anything from this game having seen their opening two games and with over 2.5 goals trading 1.93 that looks huge value. An early goal here could see plenty follow and it might be worth backing Any Other Home Win (Spain to score four or more and win) at 6.4 or better in the Correct Score market closer to kick off.
