WORLD CUP: The knockout phase continues and we preview Monday’s two World Cup games between BRAZIL v MEXICO and BELGIUM v JAPAN both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
BRAZIL V MEXICO
3pm The tournament favourites are back in action on Monday as Brazil take on Mexico. This will be a very tough game for Brazil – Mexico came through Group E without losing and that included a 1-0 win over Germany. Brazil have dominated games at times however they have struggled to score goals given the amount of chances they’ve created and it will be very interesting to see how they cope with the Mexico defence.
Brazil are heavy favourites nonetheless, with the match odds at the time of writing currently trading; Brazil 1.51, Mexico 8.6 and the draw is 4.4. Brazil feel a little short at 1.51 based on what we’ve seen in the tournament thus far – they should have beaten Switzerland but had to settle for a 1-1 draw and it took until the 90 minute to score against Costa Rica. Mexico are well set up at the back and under 2.5 goals looks huge value at 1.98. It’s tempting to lay Brazil at 1.51 from a value point of view because we can see the game being closer than those odds suggest. However under 2.5 goals at 1.98 jumps off the page here – we can see this being a very tight affair with two solid defences and unders looks huge.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Under 2.5 goals at 1.98.

BELGIUM V JAPAN
7pm Belgium came through the game that ‘nobody wanted to win’ when beating England 1-0. They are now on the “harder” side of the draw; however they should ease past this Japan side. You could say that Japan were lucky to make it through the Group stages – they beat Colombia who lost a man very early in the game and then drew with Senegal and were beaten by Poland. Belgium will really fancy their chances here and it will be a major shock if they fail to get through.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Belgium 1.42, Japan 11.0 and the draw is 4.8. It’s hard to see Japan coming here to attack and we can see them putting 11 men behind the ball and hoping for something from a counter attack or a set piece. It’s difficult to see past a Belgium win however Japan could frustrate them for a lot of game. Under 2.5 goals 2.0 and that looks a nice play here – Belgium are very solid at the back too and it’s very hard to see this being an open game.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Under 2.5 goals at 2.0.
