WORLD CUP: The knockout phase has begun and we preview Saturday’s two World Cup games between FRANCE v ARGENTINA and URUGUAY v PORTUGAL both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
FRANCE V ARGENTINA
3pm We’ve seen a huge amount of drama at the Group stages of the World Cup; but it’s only going to get better as we start the knockouts on Saturday. We start with an excellent game too as France take on Argentina. France easily topped Group C while Argentina’s troubles have been well documented – they struggled to get past Nigeria to get into second in Group D and it’s hard to see them improving so much in a short space of time.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; France 2.44, Argentina 3.55 and the draw is 3.15. Argentina will attract a lot of punters at 3.55 however they have really struggled in front of goal – they’ve given the ball away far too much in the build up and it’s hard to see them over powering France; they’re best hope is to grind a 1-0 win. France have all the talent in the world; but sometimes they just can’t find the right system – we feel that this one could be a very cagey affair as both sides cancel each other out. Under 1.5 goals is trading 2.72 and that looks a great price to take a chance on in what should be a very close game.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Under 1.5 goals at 2.72.

URUGUAY V PORTUGAL
7pm Portugal were going to top Group B for a long time during the final round of games on Monday night however they were chinned by Spain in the dying minutes. They now face a Uruguay side who won all three of their games and look really solid at the back. Portugal had a lot of draws on the way to winning Euro 2016 and it’s hard to expect anything but a very close game here.
The markets agree as with have a very open match odds market. At the time of writing the prices are; Uruguay 2.86, Portugal 3.05 and the draw is 3.05. That’s probably the most open market we’ve seen at this World Cup. Uruguay have yet to concede a goal in their three games, while Portugal have conceded four – three came against Spain though in a wonderful 3-3 draw. Uruguay obviously haven’t played a team close to the quality of Portugal yet, so this will be a big test for them. We can see a very cagey affair with both sides very good at the back – it could be worth backing 0-0 at 7.0 however we can’t see past the draw here and we’re happy to back it at 3.05.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Draw at 3.05.
