BACK-TO-BACK BIG-RACE WINNERS: Daqman, who headlined Australia and Kingston Hill for the Derby, yesterday predicted: Gemix to be French champion again.’ Gemix WON 3-1. But Daqman’s Auteuil banker, Abbyssial, gambled in from 3-1 to 1.3-1, faded after being asked to make all.
STARTING TOMORROW: ASCOT PREVIEW: Look out for Daqman’s starter kit for the five days at Royal Ascot, which begin a week tomorrow. He’s looking for early-mouse value on the people’s exchange.

ODDYSEY THE STORY OF WINDSOR TONIGHT
WHOSE birthday is it anyway? Probably not the punter’s at a rain-soaked Ayr, where Zoe Heaney (3.00) and Jacqui Maloney (4.00) have races named after their celebrations.
They’ve been gazumped for race-name of the day: you can’t beat the Flat Cap And Whippet Handicap of the 8.40 at Pontefract, which promises more of the same on June 22. Call off the Saturday races at Royal Ascot!
AYR
So not a Ballydoyle day today but there’s an Irish raider at Ayr which catches the eye. Co Kildare trainer Adrian Keatley has been to GB only once, and he won.
He must know more about Carraroe Flyer (6.00) than we do, to risk his 100% record with a maiden. But Lady Ranger won for him at Chepstow at the end of May with a similar profile.
Lady Ranger started favourite, despite there being little or no form in the book, so I grabbed a bit of the liquidity in the BETDAQ orange about Carraroe Flyer at 12.0 this morning.
Earlier on, I had a pound on another roadworthy outfit, that of Michael Bell, up from Newmarket with George Cinq (3.00) and Fashion Line (5.30).
Jamie Spencer travels North for the rides and, at 4.4 and 6.2 respectively, I could bet stop at a winner on BETDAQ. For my usual accounting purposes in this column, I backed George Cinq to win 20 points (5.8 win) and, if lose 5pts Fashion Line, the Fashion Line bet being to win 20 but also covering the stake on George Cinq.
NEWTON ABBOT
I nibbled at the 16.0 orange offers about Caballo De Marcus (4.45), with the stable currently three from four. Richard Johnson booked for this Pointer.
PONTEFRACT
Effect of the draw? How about the 6f opener (6.40) at Pontefract? Looks wide open but stalls 1, 2 and 3 won it five years in succession. I had my pound on the promising Elizabeth Ernest at 7.0.
WINDSOR
Four last-time-out winners clash in the 7.20, two of them aged seven and previously without success for two years and more, so unlikely to do a repeat.
Red Warrior won unexpectedly (at 25-1) when the favourite failed to run its race at Yarmouth. But there was no fluke about the runaway win in first-time cheekpieces of Jupiter Storm, who has put back-to-back wins together before.
Making a long journey today – that’s where I came in at Ayr – is Oddysey (7.50), all the way to Windsor from County Durham, with Richard Hughes booked.
The race has a pacesetter, Waveguide, a heavy-ground-only horse we can discard, Anya, and History Book, who’s won only on AW, beating ‘nothing.’
Oddysey, winner on soft and firm, has a penchant for left-handed tracks. Take out right-handers, and the mare’s form at 7f and a mile in the last two years was 1221231411 until she was raised above 84. Now down to 83.
DAQMAN’S BETS (staked to win 20 points unless stated)
