PREMIER LEAGUE MONDAY: The Striker previews TOTTENHAM v LEEDS with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
TOTTENHAM V LEEDS
8pm We have a huge game for Monday Night Football from the Premier League on Betdaq Betting Exchange this week! Spurs host Leeds in a game that will have massive implications on the relegation battle. Spurs have put themselves in a reasonably strong position in the last few weeks with back-to-back wins, but every game is a must win game at the moment. Obviously Spurs benefitted hugely from meeting Aston Villa last weekend in between their Europa League Semi-Final, and they also have the benefit of West Ham having to play Arsenal on Super Sunday. Should Arsenal win there, as expected, Spurs will have a chance to go four points clear of the relegation zone with just two games left.
It is almost unthinkable that a club of Spurs stature could be playing Championship football next season, but it feels like they have survived the big scare – they just need to finish the job now. Spurs come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.92 with Leeds 4.1 and the draw is also 4.1 at the time of writing. Roberto De Zerbi has had a good few weeks, and that decision seems to have paid off for the time being – obviously we’ve had a tonne of drama in the dugout at Spurs for a while now! The pressure Spurs have been under has been huge, and this has been one of the most wretched seasons in the club’s recent history – they have won just nine Premier League games all season so I wouldn’t be rushing to take the 1.92 here, even allowing for the fact that they have won their last two.
I also feel that we shouldn’t read too much into those wins. Wolves sit bottom of the table and have been poor all season, and then it was quite obvious Villa had their eyes on the Europa League Semi-Final. Leeds have been playing better football this season too – their average xG created of 1.42 is a respectable mid-table attacking figure, while their xG conceded of 1.43 is similarly mid-table; they shouldn’t have been so close to the relegation battle. Spurs have an average xG created of 1.32 which is quite poor, and their average xG conceded of 1.42 is similarly poor but obviously very close to Leeds. There really isn’t much between the sides on paper, so I do expect a closer game than the odds suggest.
Leeds have also been finishing the season strongly. They are unbeaten in their last six Premier League games, when the pressure was on too given they were on the edge of the relegation battle. Not only that, but they have also won three of their last four as well. All the pressure is on Spurs here, and Leeds have little to play for which can sometimes be the most dangerous kind of opponent, especially with Leeds finishing the season in good form too. From a value point of view, it’s hard to see past the Spurs lay here, I feel that’s the best position in what should be a very interesting game.
